We cordially invite any available Killeen Kohl's associates to our next Back-to-School Brigade event on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Texas A&M University-Central Texas, Founders Hall, Bernie Beck Lecture Hall, 1001 Leadership Place, Killeen, TX 76549. Doors open for volunteers at 9:00 AM, and the event culminates at 1:00 PM CST.

The Back-to-School Brigade is an annual nationwide campaign by Operation Homefront (run by the American Veterans Mission locally) that collects and distributes school supplies to eligible dependents of service members. Military children receive free back-to-school supplies, including backpacks, through this assistance program to help them start the new school year on the right foot.

This program is a crucial resource for military families facing financial hardship or other challenges as they navigate the back-to-school season. The high-quality backpacks we provide through the program ensure children have a durable and reliable backpack to carry their supplies. The program also includes a range of other school supplies, such as pencils, paper, and other essential items, to help children succeed in the classroom.

We are always on the lookout for new opportunities to expand our audience. We are supported by hundreds of people around the world and it is important for us to expand the field of people who are concerned about safety for people suffering from war.

We are looking for people who will:
- help us organize events in support of evacuating people
- Can spread the word about our work to communities
- improve our communications strategy to support the work of the organization
- This volunteering requires virtually no skills other than a willingness to communicate with communities.

This volunteering will take between 4 and 7 hours per week. We are willing to accommodate you as our team is located in different time zones.

The annual New Vision for Independence Dining in the Dark event is a unique experience to raise awareness about blindness and raise funds for our local non-profit serving people of all ages with low vision or blindness and their families in Lake and Sumter Counties and The Villages. Attendees experience food, drink and conversation as they may never have before – without their sight. The meal will be served in complete darkness and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, as part of a training exercise, will serve guests while wearing their night vision goggles. Prior to the dinner, attendees enjoy the silent auction and cash bar. We need help setting up the event and staffing the silent auction.

The Community Social Planning Council (CSPC) and Volunteer Victoria are recruiting volunteers for the biennial Point in Time (PiT) Homeless Count in Greater Victoria. Greater Victoria participated in nationwide PiT Counts in 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2023. Point-in-Time counts add essential information to our understanding of how people experience homelessness in our region.

Volunteers sign up for one 3-hour shift, attend a two-hour training session in advance of the event, and must be 19 years of age or older to participate.

Once you have signed up, we will send you a quick application form - to confirm your role preferences, training availability etc. OR you can fill out the form directly via - https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PITCount2025
