As a member of our judging panel, you play a critical role in the success of our annual Canstructure event! Students in grades K-12 build 3-dimensional works of art from hundreds of canned food items in this timed competition. Their impressive efforts are showcased at Patrick Henry Mall as they work together to combat hunger using STEM skills, creativity and teamwork. Elementary teams compete remotely by submitting video presentations from their school sites, and middle school and high school teams compete in-person on Saturday, April 26, 2025. All teams are provided clear guidelines and rules for building their CANstructures and are encouraged to refer to the judging rubric throughout the planning, designing and building phases of the competition. Judges can choose to participate on our virtual panel for grades K-5 via video conference the week prior or on our in-person panel at the "main event" at Patrick Henry Mall. All teams are recognized at Center Court at the live event, and trophies are awarded to top teams in each category.

This event is important because it engages youth in a team-based service-learning experience that teaches and reinforces STEM and workplace readiness skills while addressing food insecurity in our local community!

Bring joy to a family in need this Holiday Season by adopting a family and fulfilling their holiday wish list. For many struggling parents, providing gifts to their children is well beyond their reach. This year, as our current health crisis persists, our families’ daily struggles to meet their basic needs have become more challenging than ever. With your support, we can bring smiles and happiness to the faces of many children this holiday season and alleviate their family’s stress.

If interested, kindly let us know the family size you are interested in adopting. On average, donors spend $50 per family member in addition to a $50-$100 for a gift for the entire family. We will provide you with a family profile with wish list items. Please purchase, wrap and label the gifts and then we can arrange a time to pick up the presents the week of December 4th.

Little WORLD Charity has children's displays installed at twenty locations in the Raleigh/Durham area. These locations are hospitals, special needs homes, and libraries with a goal of bringing joy and inspiration of kids in need of a smile. Every season, the charity's director needs one or two people, for one or two days, to ride with him to rotate the displays so that the kids (of all ages) have something new to enjoy. You need to be able to lift around 30 pounds to your waist level for about 10 seconds. You'll get to see the joy on the faces of the children and their parents, and you'll save this 100% volunteer group the cost of having to pay a contractor. See examples at www.littleworldcharity.org and please help!
