Support youth mental health and well-being in your community by volunteering on event day.
At Kids Help Phone, we are grateful to our committed and courageous volunteers, who are essential to achieving our mission - ensuring every young person has the support they need, in the way they need it most.
Volunteer Roles:
This is a one day volunteer event on Sunday, May 5, 2024. Volunteers shift times will vary, depending on the role. Please see below the available volunteer roles.
Logistics Volunteer: Working alongside Kids Help Phone staff, this role will ensure all site logistics are in place and ready to go. This will include helping with set up and tear down. People helping in this role will still be able to do the Walk if they choose to do so.
Event Experience Volunteer: Monitor checkpoints along the route and the start and finish line; cheering, entertaining, motivating and providing assistance for Walkers. People helping in this role will not be able to do the Walk.
Food & Beverage Volunteer: Organize onsite food and beverage distribution and ensure all health and safety protocols are being followed. These volunteers will be required to wear gloves and masks when handling food. People helping in this role will not be able to do the Walk.
Guest Services Volunteer: This role is a key function at a Walk site. You will collect fundraising monies, review pledge form information, and answer general questions. You will be required to attend a 30-minute training session 3-4 days before the Walk. People helping in this role will still be able to do the Walk if they choose to do so.

Summary of the position
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Communications and Development Officer with the flexibility to work remotely. As a Communications and Development Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing communication and fundraising strategies that resonate with potential and existing donors, supporters, and partners. You will collaborate with the team to develop key messages, assets, and campaigns, and manage digital, print, and multimedia resources that optimize Creats International's fundraising and outreach initiatives. You will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating communications and fundraising strategies and providing recommendations that enhance their effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate Creats International's brand and initiatives through different channels including website, social media, print materials etcetera.
- Works closely with our web designer to ensure the website content is regularly updated.
- Utilize emerging tools to design and publish marketing pieces including brochures, and newsletters to help increase awareness of program areas.
- Manage the organization’s communications assets, including photo library, success stories, logo library, infographics, design files, print, and digital collateral.
- Develop marketing and social media strategies by leveraging analytics to make critical decisions.
- Attend community events to capture and highlight our stories of impact in the community.
- Research and write compelling blogs about our interventions in the community.
- Strategic research to identify potential donors and partners and assist in correspondence with potential donors and stakeholders.
- Maintaining a calendar of critical dates to ensure the timely submission of proposals.
- Preparing high-quality proposals to donors.
- Manage and maintain donor database to include basic donor information, donations, and donor acknowledgments.
- Responsible for timely acknowledgment and recognition of donors as appropriate.
- Ensure donations are accurately accounted for and routed to the correct program area in our accounting system.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports.
- Assist with the planning and execution of CREATS fundraising events and other community engagement initiatives.
- Any other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, Community Development, International Studies, Rural Development, Gender Studies, Rural Sociology, Business Administration, or related fields.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suites, collaborative platforms like Google Drive, and other customer relations software like Salesforce.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of different social media platforms.
High levels of integrity, honesty, and work ethics.
Cultural sensitivity and humility.
Ability to work under minimal supervision and deliver high-quality work.

The WaterFront Center provides unique experiences that connect people to the water through our marine education programs, recreational and instructional sailing programs, paddleboard, kayak, and sailboat rentals, and harbor tours aboard our National Historic Landmark, Oyster Sloop CHRISTEEN and our newly launched Oyster Dredge IDA MAY. The goal of our programming is to promote environmental stewardship in our community and get kids to experience their local habitats.The Annual Benefit Party will happen Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 6-9pm at Piping Rock Beach Club in Locust Valley, New York. The event will feature small bites and cocktails as well as live music. The Annual Benefit Party is one of our two main fundraising events of the year and is critical to our funding. Join us on Sunday, September 22nd for the 26th Annual New England Together in Teal 5k Run/Walk in South Boston to support ovarian cancer survivors, caregivers and those who have lost loved ones. This inspirational community event, brings ovarian cancer supporters and those living with the disease together for a morning of hope, connection and strength. Special highlights of the morning are our speakers and survivor ceremony, live music, games for families, educational opportunities for guests to learn more about ovarian cancer and how to get needed support as well as a fun run walk along the beautiful waterfront. Volunteers are needed to assist with registration, refreshments, set up/break down, setting up signage, race course volunteering and much more. Together in Teal is the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition's signature event, held in 10 states in the US during September and October.
