Please supply an email address outside of your work email and your home or personal email. We have only very limited volunteer opportunities with animals currently. If you're local to the property, we have unsocialized cats needing people to just come in and hang out. And a lone horse who loved to have someone groom her weekly. Other hands on with animals this time would be limited to occasional adoption events and fostering. There are times when we work with our rescue partners for various events such as microchip clinics or spay and neuter events. Also transporting animals and goods is an additional area where we need assistance.
What we really need are qualified people who can foster cats, kittens, puppies and dogs. One of our biggest challenges is finding foster homes for cats and kittens. Supplies can be provided. Have a spare bathroom or bedroom? We can supply large crates as well. The reward of fostering outweighs the time commitment. Fostering saves lives!
Being a small volunteer based organization we are spread thin when it comes to staying on top of technology. Our adoption forms, etc all need to be updated and made smart phone available. Social media-creating attractive posts to promote our adoptable animals! Tik tok? Facebook? Instagram? The more attention the better.
We currently have one horseon the property. One is very sweet old lady of about 20 years old. She has some issues with her tendons so she doesn't move as freely as she once did. Brushing her mane, grooming her coat, feeding her an apple are her favorite things right now.
We also need volunteers who have social media skills, technical writers and we are looking for someone who might be willing to write a short history of The Fauna Foundation, our founder Beverly Johnson was a pioneer in animal rescue.
Did I say ....WE NEED home based fosters! Can you foster a litter of kittens or even one kitten? Do you have room for a dog who needs a place to stay while we try to find him a forever home? The more foster homes we have the more animals we can save. Foster homes are the ideal for rescued animals. While in a foster home we learn a great deal about the particular animal and are better able to place them in a forever home. Some animals who are rescued need to learn basic good manners, how to walk on a leash or not steal all the cat treats. Animals at a sanctuary are safe, however they don't receive one on one attention that foster homes can provide.
