Knox Shamrock Fest™ is the region's premier family friendly way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, with two days of nonstop fun in downtown Knoxville's Historic Market Square! Knox Shamrock Fest™ was created by and benefits the 100% local 501(c)3 nonprofit, the East Tennessee Kidney Foundation™ (ETKF). ETKF is 100% local and independent; we are NOT affiliated with the national kidney foundation based in NYC.

Supporting Knox Shamrock Fest™ is important because it raises necessary funds to provide life sustaining care to individuals struggling to survive with kidney disease. Our local programs for individuals include dialysis transportation grants to cover expenses to and from dialysis treatments, post-operative kidney transplant appointment travel, free nutritional supplements/protein bars, education, free kidney disease screenings, and free dental work for those whose last barrier to placement on the kidney transplant waiting list is dental clearance.

In addition to the fun of St. Patrick's Day, March is national kidney disease awareness month, and the kidney disease awareness ribbon is green! What LUCK?!

Knox Shamrock Fest™ is a great choice for your employee volunteer program and team building activities. For more information on volunteer shifts & descriptions, visit VolunteerETN.org/ETKidney, call our office at 1-865-288-7351 or contact the Event Director at Katie@ETKidney.org.

Soles4Souls creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world. It’s estimated that 21 billion pounds of textile waste is dumped in landfills every year. That makes up more than 5% of all municipal waste generated every year. Since 2006, Soles4Souls has diverted 23.8 million pounds of shoes and clothes from landfills and instead created meaningful economic opportunities and helped provide new shoes for those in need around the globe. Gently-worn shoes collected help individuals start and sustain small businesses to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. Here is the impact an entrepreneur can make with the sale of 1, 20 or 30 pairs of shoes: 1 pair of shoes can provide 5 meals for Marie-Ange and her family in Haiti, 20 pairs of shoes can provide a year’s worth of shelter for Ginette and her family in Haiti and 30 pairs of shoes can provide a year’s worth of schooling for Tracy’s daughter in Honduras.

By volunteering at the Soles4Souls warehouse, you get the opportunity to help process the shoes brought in from the community. Each bag/box needs to be opened so that the shoes can be rubber-banded together. You will break down boxes, pair shoes and bag them. Someone will be responsible for weighing all the shoes you process so at the end of your service, the impact you have made will be given.

The Regional Donation Center is open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Times to volunteer in the warehouse are flexible during this timeframe.

You can park in front of the building on the street or on the side streets. There is no specific parking lot for our office/warehouse. The warehouse is sometimes chilly, so it’s best to bring a jacket or sweater. Also, please wear comfortable clothing as this includes a lot of bending and moving. You’re welcome to play music in the warehouse with our Bluetooth speakers! We also have water/snacks for you.

This is a great opportunity to make an impact in the community and internationally while also growing as a team!

Host a shoe drive! By hosting a shoe drive you can create community engagement, provide new opportunities for those in need AND give back to the environment. Every 20 pairs of shoes counts as 1 hour of service plus any hours spent marketing the drive and collecting/pairing shoes count as service hours as well.

Gently-worn shoes collected help individuals start and sustain small businesses to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.

Hosting a shoe drive can be done in 5 simple steps:

1. Choose a theme for your drive (i.e. Go Green, Thanks4Giving, Women4Women or generic “Create Your Own). Marketing materials look different depending on what you choose.
2. Register to host a shoe drive for a specific period of time and with a goal in mind: https://soles4souls.org/shoe-drive/
3. Soles4Souls provides branded collection boxes for you to set out. You line these with a garbage bag and replace as it is filled.
4. You would blast an email out to your employees, clients, customers, etc as you prefer letting them know about the drive. Flyers and links to resources will be provided for this!
5. Once the drive concludes, volunteers will count the shoes, pair them together, and bring to the Regional Donation Center or ship them to the nearest warehouse. A Soles4Souls representative will help coordinate this once a drive is registered.

RRRcomputer.org's mission is to promote digital inclusion by repurposing digital devices for the next generation.  We give them to low income K-12 children for education. We reduce computer waste by refurbishing the computers to put back into circulation for the kids to use for internet search for research, and doing their homework assignment at home. The computers that are going to recycling is still useful for their needs. We do our part in saving the planet and improve the education of children.

We are looking for effective grant writers to help us obtain grants to support our organization to turn as many end of life computers into usable computers for K-12 children. Your work is very important to us. Come join our team.
