For each social enterprise challenge, we identify from a systematic change perspective what volunteer expertise combinations would ideally be available for that social enterprise. CrowdDoing, a joint initiative of Advance Social innovation (www.advancesocialinnovation.org/crowddoing and Reframe it) needs volunteers with Social Innovation Headhunting, Talent Sourcing and Executive Recruiting expertise in order to comprehensively help the social enterprise sector. Each social innovation/social enterprise challenge we work on we seek to recruit volunteers by leveraging information about who is currently interested in skilled volunteering from Linked In and other sources. CrowdDoing is scaling. We need help sourcing global virtual volunteers to help the social innovations and social enterprises we support to succeed. We need a group of skilled and service learning marketing volunteers to help us reach the potential social enterprise community, the potential volunteer community, potential donors, and potential partners. In 2016, Animal House Project donated 186,000 lbs of dry and 62,000 cans of wet food. as well as 500,000 lbs of dry food for 600 rescues in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic areas. That is a lot of food and now with new changes in IRS requirements we need to not only be able to effectively receive the food but give it a value as well. We need help with Logistics - receipt of donations from donors further from our area of operations; warehouse and inventory management. We already have a team of volunteers that works in this sphere but we need a Team Coordinator that has experience and may bring new ideas as to how to operate more efficiently.

Animal House Project has had the same website since 2010 and let's face it, we need to come into the 21st century and get a site that donors will flock to but we need help!! We are looking for someone that will take over the development of a new site and make it more interactive and user friendly. Also, this person or volunteers in their team will need to take over posting in Facebook and LinkedIn as well as post Instagram and Pinterest Pictures when we are at events. We are missing so much because our website is so old.

Animal House Project does awesome when it comes to serving our clients but the one thing that we continually do not do is fundraising on a larger scale. We need a "cracker jack" person that will roll up their sleeves and lead the charge for our Fundraising efforts across the board. From small dine and donate events to creating our own signature event. We receive food donations but we do not receive help to cover our operational expenses and we are getting squeezed like a lemon on finding money.

This year is particularly special as we are celebrating 50 years of Special Olympics!

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

More than 15 million visitors enjoy the scenic journey of the Blue Ridge Parkway each year. With stagnant and declining funding from the government, the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation’s support has become essential to preserve and protect the historical, cultural, and natural resources found along the 469-mile route. From maintenance and facility improvement projects to protecting threatened species, we work closely with the Parkway staff to enhance visitor experiences. Philanthropic and volunteer efforts are vital to support this unit of the National Park System. There are many ways you can help, including giving your time.
