The Elizabeth Fry Society of Calgary offers an intensive volunteer program and rewarding experience for volunteers interested in a career in justice, law or social work, or for those individuals looking for a meaningful way to give back to the community.
Volunteerism is an essential component of Elizabeth Fry Society of Calgary’s service delivery. It enables us to reach thousands of individuals through all of our programs. We have several opportunities for volunteering throughout the year and welcome
applicants 18 years and older. Post-Secondary Students to Retirees.

Program Resource Volunteers provide support to EFry through administrative and program support. Assist clients with basic needs items, access to their mail, and information. Contribute to the reception work of the agency, special projects, as well as resources for prison follow up. We ask for our volunteers to commit for a minimum of one year volunteering 3-4 hours per week.

Share HOPE with thousands of mini-Hope Heroes recently impacted by Hurricane Florence! The Happy Hope Factory is teaming up with United Way-Tallahassee to deliver special Happy Hope Bags to children in the coastal Florida communities affected by the recent storm. Teams are needed over the next four weeks to assemble, pack and ship up to 5,000 Happy Hope Bags. Hope Boxes contain all components required to assemble 24 Happy Hope Bags, and a prepaid UPS label will be included to ship completed boxes directly to the United Way’s distribution center.

Your team will be crafting, creating and assembling these super fun themed packages guaranteed to deliver a boost of hope and hours of activity for these special children during their hospital stay. Hope Boxes contain all components required to assemble the Hope Bags. A prepaid UPS label is also included to ship your donation to your local facility. If your team cannot complete the box within two weeks of your scheduled event please contact your hope box coordinator as children are awaiting your Hope Box donation. Walk for Wishes is a costumed family fun walk to benefit Make-A-Wish Illinois. We hope that volunteers will join us to help us reach our goal by becoming a team captain and recruiting team members. Volunteer opportunities are also available before and after the walk. A new addition to our event is our unique "Wish Village", which will allow everyone who attends to experience a little glimpse into the wish experience. COSTUMES ENCOURAGED! We provide valuable education from local maternal and child health experts as well as free resources in our community. But, what's a shower without gifts? Dystonia is a brain disorder, much like Parkinson’s, that causes muscles in the body to contract and spasm involuntarily. Physical symptoms may impede the ability to walk, sit upright, speak, or even see. There are multiple forms of dystonia and the disorder affects children and adults of all ages and backgrounds. The Cincinnati Dystonia Zoo Walk is an unusual event set to take place at the Cincinnati Zoo on September 21, 2019. This special event will benefit the work of the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF).
