We believe that every month, day, hour and second is the perfect time for Autism Acceptance, but we set aside April as a time to celebrate our friends and family members on the spectrum.

The Birmingham Funky Fun Run and 5K will take place at Avondale Park so gather your biggest supporters, friends, family, co-workers and classmates to celebrate the unique abilities individuals with autism bring to our community! The Funky Fun Run is un-timed, zero competition walk event so ANYONE can join. Runners be sure to register for the 5K Race prior to the Funky Fun Run.

Opportunity Details

Musical Bridges Around the World hosts Armenian soprano Mane Galoyan and virtuosic duo hailing from Belgium: violinist Jolente de Maeyer and pianist Nikolaas Kende. We are looking for volunteers to help pass out programs, collect donations, and mingle with the artists at a dessert reception following the concert. This concert is free and open to the public, allowing all of San Antonio access to world-renowned performers!

Our nonprofit has a variety of opportunities available for volunteering: helping with set up and break down of concerts in Title I schools, administrative help in the office, checking in members and guests to fundraising concerts, set up and take down for fundraising concerts, social media insights and posts, translating for visiting artists from around the globe, and many other options that could be created depending on your interests and skill set. Some of these opportunities are at the office/art gallery, and some are offsite throughout the city. There are both weekend and weekday opportunities. Every volunteer ultimately helps with our mission to Unite, Inspire, and Educate as we bring access to the arts to all in San Antonio!

Share HOPE with thousands of mini-Hope Heroes recently impacted by Hurricane Florence! The Happy Hope Factory is teaming up with United Way-North Carolina to deliver special Happy Hope Bags to children in the coastal Carolina communities affected by the recent storm. Teams are needed over the next four weeks to assemble, pack and ship up to 5,000 Happy Hope Bags. Hope Boxes contain all components required to assemble 24 Happy Hope Bags, and a prepaid UPS label will be included to ship completed boxes directly to the United Way’s distribution center. All boxes must be completed by October 19th. We can all be Hope Heroes, thank you for packaging happiness and smiles for children in need of a boost of hope!

Help us thank the community for helping our families! Market Basket and Education First Federal Credit Union need volunteers to come by to thank them during the month of March for their incredible dedication to MDA! These two companies dedicate the ENTIRE month of March to MDA! They ask for donations from customers by selling "Shamrocks". Both stores raise close to $20,000 together for our families! With your help - they can raise even more!

We have "swag bags" for you to bring to each store. Each volunteer can go alone or in a pair. We will give you 2-3 stores to visit. During your visits, you will hand out shamrock pins, fun sunglasses, and green necklaces to each cashier and worker.

Bowl for Kids' Sake is a fun and easy way for you and your company, friends, or family to support the life-changing work conducted every day by Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Great Lakes Bay Region. If you care about kids, can spare a couple of hours to have fun with your friends and enjoy bowling, then Bowl for Kids' Sake is for you!

BBBS needs volunteers to assist with bowler check-in, collecting donations, running games and distributing door prizes and 50/50 drawing prizes. Please consider helping us with this important fundraising event that gives 100% of the money raised back to our programs that change the lives of kids in the Great Lakes Bay Region!
