We are looking for small teams to join us in rescuing a large amount of food each Sunday. This food makes an amazing difference to our clients, often providing them with fresh fruits and vegetables.As a team of 3-4 people, you would help us sort, organize and properly store rescued food that will be distributed to our clients the following week. Rescuing begins at 10am on Sunday mornings and can take anywhere from 2-4 hours, depending on the amount of food received. Our office is located in High River, Alberta.
Dates of volunteering are your choice, you can sign up for as little or as much as you or your team wants.

Opportunity Details
Songs For Heroes connects Songwriters with Veterans & First Responders across the country to provide them with music therapy by telling their life stories through song. We do this at no cost to the Heroes we serve.What started as a unique fundraiser and way to preserve history for a Veterans Museum in O'Fallon, MO turned into two days of local Heroes sharing their stories of survivors guilt, clinging to faith during adversity, their battles with PTSD and more. These men and women are proud to have served their country, but were left with invisible scars that they've carried with them throughout their lifetime that our program helped them put to words.
This year, we are pairing 10 Songwriters with 20 local Schertz & greater San Antonio-area Heroes Nov 7th & 8th, and ending with a public show on Nov 9th at the Samuel Clemens High School Auditorium where the songwriters will perform all 20 songs they wrote over the course of the two days.
Here is our 2024 writer lineup. They are coming in from TN, FL, NY, and across Texas and have all donated their time & talent to help us bring this event to life.

We have a need for volunteers to help us keep things running smoothly over the 4 days of events.
- Nov 6th- Pick up 1 artist from San Antonio airport in the evening and bring them to private location in Marion, TX for media night. Volunteer can stay for media night.
-Nov 8th- Blue Bonnet Palace in Selma, TX. The artists are hosting a free show and we will be out there selling merch and taking donations for SFH.
- Nov 9th- Songs For Heroes concert at Samuel Clemens High School Auditorium in Schertz, TX

Cross Cultural Medical Education Journey to Kenya!Join or sponsor a health care professional to take part in one of our culturally enriching journeys helping provide medical education to disadvantaged communities in Kenya. Our Global Health Partners provide valuable education to make a sustainable difference in health care disparities of disadvantaged communities. We work with clinics in rural parts of Kenya to provide local healthcare workers and children with educational opportunities. Our Journeys range from 8-14 days and are in safe and comfortable locations. Healthcare workers can join us and we will coordinate internal accommodations and transfers through professional travel agencies to ensure a fun and memorable experience that provides lasting impact.
Non-healthcare workers can join us on a volunteer journey by sponsoring their trip and that of at least one healthcare worker. All participants will have the opportunity to volunteer 30-40 hours alongside healthcare workers to support the local community. Sponsors can also choose to provide a donation to help purchase medical equipment for the communities in Kenya.
Accommodations are comfort class to ensure a safe and pleasant experience in coordination with our local partners. Internal accommodations are provided along with all necessary internal transfers and most meals. Our team will help volunteers coordinate international flights to ensure that all volunteers are together throughout the journey experience.
