Survivor Kid's Day is for children of fallen military and fallen first responders. The day is full of opportunities for horse back riding, interacting with the horses, llamas, donkey, goats, milk cows and pigs. The children have all lost a parent in recent military conflicts, suicide and line of duty tragedies. Volunteers are needed to help with the equines, other animals, horseshoe decorating, photography, first aid and food. Volunteers are assigned in 3 hour intervals during the 6 hour event. It's a fun day for all!

Opportunity Details

The Metro Area Youth Foundation works directly with the families of childhood cancer patients. The Children's Hospital, Nebraska Medicine and the Social Workers that deal directly with childhood cancer patients contact the MAYF when they see families in need of the MAYF services. The MAYF has a committee to review all the applications for assistance. These applications can be approved or not, within an hour or two at the most. The MAYF is the only local organization that can help these families immediately. The Social Workers at the Children's Hospital and Nebraska Medicine can give out MAYF's gift cards for gas, food, lodging etc. that the families can use instantly. For larger expenses such as mortgage payments, car payments, utilities and medical expenses, the MAYF can have funds to the family within a few hours. The MAYF's goal is to help these families when they need it most.

CrowdDoing is a global virtual collaboration to research medicinal foods for stress, sleep and anxiety. Our project has the goal of advancing integration across fields of research and to build medicinal foods literacies in the population.
