Opportunity Details

We are seeking volunteers to help us expand our online collection of high-quality learning resources on the Rumie LearnCloud. We have an immediate need for Spanish, Dari and English Language Learning resources. We are continually adding new projects, however, so we welcome resources on any topic.

We are looking for passionate individuals with knowledge on a specific topic(s), who have online learning resources that they have created or have permission to share freely. Learning resources can include YouTube videos, PDF documents or Android apps. Volunteers will be required to create an account on the Rumie LearnCloud, upload their best resources, and organize them into meaningful collections.

With the help of engaged and passionate volunteers, we can work together to organize the vast amount of high-quality digital learning resources available online, and deliver it to learners who have limited or no Internet access through specialized Rumie Tablets or the Rumie App.

Share HOPE with thousands of mini-Hope Heroes recently impacted by Hurricane Michael! The Happy Hope Factory is teaming up with United Way to deliver special Happy Hope Bags to children in communities affected by the recent storm. Project boxes contain all materials required to complete 24 Happy Hope Bags, including a UPS label to send to our United Way partner distribution center.

The goal of this is for those in need to have necessary toiletries for everyday life. It is very important because of the poverty levels here. We will give packed purses/bags filled with toiletries to families who are also recipients of boxes of food during their time of need.

We cannot believe it! We have put on March for Marrow Walks and then 5K Runs in Texas for 10 years, first in Austin (April 18, 2010); then in San Antonio (2011-2013); and then at the University of Houston's Frontier Fiesta (2014-2018). The March for Marrow Houston Walk 2019 is an inspiring and festive walk for patients with rare bone marrow failure disease, their families, friends and supporters and will include team photos and inspiring stories from patients, family members and medical professionals. The 1- and 2-Mile Walks will begin at 9:00 am. Registration will open at 8:00 am. This year we have moved to the community of The Woodlands where two of our patients live and work. We are excited to education a new area of Houston about bone marrow failure diseases and get new people into the National Marrow Donor Program through Be the Match (so easy – just a swab and you are in!)

Because of our change of venue from the University of Houston to The Woodlands, TX, we are asking two members of Kohl’s Associates in Action to help us with messaging and social media from mid-January to March 30th. On the day of March for Marrow Houston we ask Associates in Action to assist us with set-up at 7:00 am, registration beginning at 8:00 am including t-shirt hand-out; breakfast, children’s activities including additions to the Celebrate and Remember Board; award ceremony; and the close down of the event.
