The 6 month Fall into Fabulous empowerment program culminates with an annual fundraising luncheon that highlights and celebrates the women participating in the program and their transformative efforts. Each woman is treated to a complete makeover from head to toe, including clothing. New and very gently worn clothing items, shoes and accessories are donated to the FAB Boutique for "shop-til-you-drop" experience each participant. This is a very large undertaking to create this fabulous pop-up boutique. Volunteers are needed in the following areas: Clothing Sorters, Staging and Boutique Set-Up, Social Media/Marketing,
Personal Shoppers, Makeup Artists, Hair Stylists and Wardrobe Stylists.

The Happy Hope Factory is teaming up with United Way-North Carolina to deliver special Happy Hope Bags to children in the coastal Carolina communities affected by the recent storm. Teams are needed over the next four weeks to assemble, pack and ship up to 5,000 Happy Hope Bags. Hope Boxes contain all components required to assemble 25 Happy Hope Bags, and a prepaid UPS label will be included to ship completed boxes directly to the United Way’s distribution center. All boxes must be completed by October 19th. We can all be Hope Heroes, thank you for packaging happiness and smiles for children in need of a boost of hope!

Opportunity Details

This free celebration, attracting at least 250 visitors, features different aspects of wildlife each year. Previous themes include crepuscular and nocturnal forest creatures, and currently threatened species or those which have overcome endangered status. Families are first are greeted by volunteer musicians in our Outdoor Classroom, where local libraries facilitate seasonal crafts and activities. The large group is then divided into smaller ones for visiting the “animals,” who are stationed along our many trails. Volunteers lead groups to each station, where an “animal” provides an interactive dialogue about forest life. (“Animals” are costumed volunteers wearing detailed, hand-crafted disguises, complete with faux fur, feathers, and props for an accurate representation of each critter.) After twelve minutes, an air-horn blasts signals for the group to rotate. After every group has cycled through each station, everyone returns to the Outdoor Classroom for donuts and cider. In contrast to other autumn activities, “Animals of Halloween” is not spooky; the family-friendly program is designed to educate and entertain visitors of all ages.

Each year the Woodburn Christian Children's Home holds a Benefit Auction to help fund our extensive scholarship program. The scholarships enable us to remain committed to our core values, which include providing a home to children regardless of their ability to pay. In 2017 only 4% of our income came from the families of the children placed in our program.

Share a smile with someone special! Join the Happy Hope Factory packaging "Happy Hope Bags" for hospitalized children in your community. Your team will be crafting, creating and assembling these super fun themed packages guaranteed to deliver a boost of hope and hours of activity for these special children during their hospital stay. Hope Boxes contain all components required to assemble the Hope Bags. A prepaid UPS label is also included to ship your donation to your local facility. If your team cannot complete the box within two weeks of your scheduled event please contact your hope box coordinator as children are awaiting your Hope Box donation.
