Opportunity Details

Purposeful Parents, Inc is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit, that was founded in 2015 to cultivate single mothers and their children, freeing them from homelessness, poverty, hunger, violence and generational issues. We serve throughout the entire Houston Metropolitan area and in Louisiana, providing resources, empowerment, development, education, and relief to the community. Our aim is to tackle a fatherless generation and offer support to families who are surviving in a household with any area of lack and emotional deficiency. The known risks to the families we serve, within our communities, are well-documented and include but are not limited to: sexual abuse, teen pregnancy, drug abuse, physical harm, mental health awareness, poverty, hunger, domestic violence, bullying, and over-engagement of dynamic visual media or media intoxication.


Currently, our organization is hosting our annual benefit gala event, Masquerading for Purpose, which is a Mardi Gras inspired ball style evening setting that includes a sit-down dinner with live entertainment. The gala is being held in Houston on November 10 th, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. It will be located at the Historical Buffalo Soldier Museum in Houston, TX. This is a ticketed affair included with performances from dancers, a band, poetry, and comedy. The event will also have a silent auction with prizes to raise additional funds. All proceeds from this event will go to efforts for our continued program M.A.P.P.S., G.R.E.A.T.S., and P.A.W.W. which aids and supports single parents, emerging adolescents, and their children. Our initiatives support a stimulating economy, promote healthy self-esteem, reduce teen pregnancy, increase leadership development, and educates on financial literacy and entrepreneurship. It also includes opportunity to increase awareness among the community.

We are seeking event volunteer for the gala. We have 3 sets of volunteers that will work the event in increments of between 2 and 3 hours. We have a variety of opportunities to provide assistance to the gala. There will be an A-Shift that begins at 5:45 until 7:45 and the B-Shift will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and the C-Shift will be from 7:45 to Midnight. We are seeking clerical volunteers, hosts and hostesses, volunteer captains, and check-in attendants.

The Backpack Run is a professionally timed 5k/10k fundraiser for The Backpack
Program at Indian River CSD. In the past three years this event has raised over $10,000 to support The Backpack Program. Every week of the school year The Backpack Program sends a backpack full of food home with a student in need- not only does this support the nutritional needs of local families but this effort makes a huge difference in a child’s ability to focus, learn, and develop. Kohl’s team members looking to give back to the community by joining us as volunteers at this event not only ensures a smooth and organized 5k/10k but also helps provide a positive atmosphere and creates a high quality event for this fundraiser. We really enjoyed having Kohl's with us last year at the Backpack Run helping with t-shirts and post race food- we would love to have you with us again this year! This event will take place rain or shine so please come prepared to be comfortable. Feel free to stick around after the event to enjoy the Theresa Fall Festival!

Opportunity Details

The Conquest Marching Band Competition is hosted at Allatoona High School in Acworth, GA. The Conquest will feature a marvelous array of marching bands from around the Region competing for the grand championship. Volunteer opportunities are for 3 hour shifts and include concessions, ticket sales, and logistics.
