Opportunity Details

For our After Dark fundraising gala coming up on May 7, we are creating a large "Lite Brite" inspired interactive installation. We are seeking support from volunteers to help us create "pegs" for use in the Lite Brite. The pegs are made by filling small plastic bottles with colored water. All materials will be prepped beforehand: volunteers will assist by filling and sealing the bottles. Though three hours have been set aside for this volunteer session, volunteers are welcome to drop in and leave based on their own schedules. Snacks and soft drinks will be provided.

We anticipate the Lite Brite being a focal point at the event, which is anticipated to raise nearly 10% of our operating budget. All proceeds from the gala support our programming, including our arts integration residencies, professional theater productions, signature violence prevention program, and more.

Opportunity Details

ACI has proudly hosted and organized NJDPP with the support of the statewide disability community since 2011. The NJDPP strives to increase inclusion and acceptance of individuals with disabilities in their communities and the broader society. ACI sees the NJDPP festival as a vehicle to break stereotypes and the harmful public perceptions of people with disabilities.

We are excited to have a new venue and format this year. #NJDPP is the one event in New Jersey where the disabled community comes together for a day to celebrate pride in each other and to appreciate our differences and similarities.

The NJDPP is organized by ACI and staffed entirely by ACI employees and volunteers; it is funded solely by the generosity of local organizations, exhibitors, sponsors and individual donors. Our volunteers in particular play a crucial part in insuring the success of the festival. Volunteers from the community are needed for load-in and load-out, to help man ACI information tables and the Rev-Up register-to-vote tables, assist the MC's, entertainers and speakers on each stage, and help ACI with a variety of other tasks during the day.
