We are currently looking for individuals to help in Freshplace, our onsite fresh food pantry, which provides nutritious food and case management services to individuals and families living in the poorest neighborhoods in Hartford. We are looking for individuals to fill the gap until our regular volunteers who are in high risk categories can return.Volunteers must be 18 or older, able to lift at least 30 pounds and fully vaccinated.
Responsibilities include: Unloading and sorting donated food, organizing pantry shelves and assisting Freshplace clients with shopping.
Where: Freshplace, Chrysalis Center, 255 Homestead Ave, Hartford.
When: Tuesdays and/or Thursday - 9:00 am - 1:00 pm (or earlier)
We can accommodate one time, weekly, or monthly volunteer opportunities.
Chrysalis Center is a private, non-profit, socially innovative, multiservice organization that serves individuals and their families living in the State of Connecticut. Chrysalis Center helps those living in poverty, Veterans, men, women, children, and young adults who are struggling with mental health, addiction, HIV/AIDS, homelessness, and those returning from incarceration.

A day of service for the whole family. Join us for a coastal cleanup on Anna Maria Island and the opportunity to learn more about the local environment!Summer days are a lot of fun, but can leave a big mess. Nature’s Academy staff and volunteers will lead us on a litter cleanup along the coast to make sure trash stays out of the water. We’ll also give a sneak peek of our STEM Literacy Project program!
We will provide water bottles, water, gloves and clean up materials for all our volunteers.

Opportunity Details
KNOX will hold a volunteer event to weed and mulch the enormous traffic island on the corner of Homestead Avenue and Garden Street. This traffic island serves as a key welcoming point for those traveling through Hartford and a visual gateway to 2 neighborhoods and The Hartford's campus. We can accommodate up to 35 volunteers for this event. Volunteers do not need to bring any tools. We recommend wearing sneakers, layers, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Bathrooms are handled by auto shop next door. We will provide food and water for volunteers. If the event needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather, we will notify volunteers and reschedule.Available Shifts

We’re looking for enthusiastic and energetic volunteers to join our team at Target Ovarian Cancer’s flagship annual 5 or 10k walk or run, The Ovarian Cancer Walk|Run at Edinburgh’s iconic Holyrood Park on Sunday 6 June 2021.Target Ovarian Cancer is the UK's leading ovarian cancer charity. We work to improve early diagnosis, fund life-saving research and provide much-needed support to women with ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer can be devastating. This aggressive disease affects one in fifty women, and all too often a diagnosis is not made early enough. UK survival rates for ovarian cancer are amongst the lowest in Europe. 11 women die every day in the UK from the disease; survival more than doubles if caught at the earliest opportunity.
Becoming a volunteeer will give you the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the hundreds of friends and family who are taking steps to beat ovarian cancer.
We are looking for stewards to marshal the route, walking marshals (to accompany walkers around the route), registration stewards, and admin support.
To thank you for all your hard work, you’ll get a t-shirt, goody bag, certificate and light refreshments.

Our organization is seeking several board members, in different areas of interest and with various skill-sets:1. A board member who can provide guidance in areas of long-range planning and strategic thinking. We are a multifaceted organization, constantly confronted with new needs and program opportunities. The expertise of a board member experienced in evaluation of options and development of annual and longer-range plans would be very valuable.
2. We are seeking new approaches to obtaining the funds to support our growth. We desire a board member knowledgeable about the “industry of philanthropy.” Primary role will be to provide guidance for the development of annual and long-range fundraising plans, assist in philanthropic requests, and alert the staff to fundraising trends and opportunities.
3. We have grown rapidly during our first fifteen years and anticipate a continuing expansion of activities and programs, as well as land acquisition. A corporate executive or business entrepreneur who has led an organization through the complexity of growth would be a great asset for our future endeavors.
4. We are seeking a board member with expertise in advertising or public relations from a corporation or consulting firm who could provide guidance and assistance in implementation of effective communication strategies.

Taking place in over 50 locations across Canada, the event includes activities for kids, snacks, refreshments and prizes.
