It has never been more important to build the future-ready skills of a generation of students who will grow up to help solve some of the world’s biggest problems.

That is why The Learning Partnership is working with companies across Canada to encourage thousands of Canada’s youngest learners, including students from underserved communities, to apply creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship to solve real-world problems today.

And YOU are invited to play an important part inspiring and equipping today’s youngest students to become tomorrow’s problem solvers and changemakers as an Inventor Mentor!

About the Volunteer Opportunity: Inventor Mentors

Each volunteer Inventor Mentor will need to commit to:

- a 1 hour training session (May 2, May 4, or May 6)
- 3-6 hours of evaluation/providing feedback (on your own time, completed over 1 week).

We’re looking for 150 Volunteer Inventor Mentors from organizations across Canada -- representing diverse identities, cultures, and expertise -- to engage with student projects and provide real-world feedback to teach students how their skills and experience can be applied to the future of work.

Your participation is critical to ensure all students see themselves represented, receive valuable guidance and see models of careers and career paths by adults with diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.

All employees are welcome to participate! TLP will provide training and no specific experience is required.

Please sign up no later than Friday, April 22, 2022, and please watch your inbox for a welcome email -- with a link to the TLP Registration Form (including the opportunity to select your preferred training session).

*** About The Learning Partnership's Investigate! Invent! Innovate! (I3) and the National Invention Convention presented by Spin Master ***

This year, 23,000 Grade 1 to 8 students from across Canada are participating in The Learning Partnership’s Investigate! Invent! Innovate! (I3) program. In the spring, I3 students are invited to showcase their innovative projects -- prototypes, apps, business plans, and more! -- at the virtual National Invention Convention presented by Spin Master.

Numerous TLP corporate partners -- including Spin Master (Lead National I3 Partner, NIC Presenting Sponsor) and CIBC (I3 National Partner: Inclusive Innovation) -- are helping celebrate the achievements of these inspiring young innovators while connecting them to adult mentors who provide real-world, constructive feedback and bridge their in-class learning to the world of work.

In the words of Inventor Mentors in 2021:

“It left me hopeful about our world's future. The participants were like a touchstone to see what the next generation of makers and doers will be. If this group is a fair representation we are in good hands.”

“The young innovators certainly impress! Can only imagine how they will contribute once they are in the workforce.”

“Very impressed with the submissions. There were some laugh out loud moments…I feel much more positive now about our future than I did going into this.”

“Everyone's having so much fun doing this activity! They love how much effort the students are putting in. There are some truly innovative solutions in there.”

Questions? Please reach out to Julianna Romanyk, Development Coordinator, The Learning Partnership: jromanyk@thelearningpartnership.ca

Mission Statement: CrowdDoing.world's Foods.& Herbs for Stress,Sleep & Anxiety Initiative aims to give people agency by educating people about their options with regards to their natural remedies for these aspects of their mental health. We do so by analyzing scientific research and clinical evidence, gathering new evidence through data science and citizen science, and recommending to individuals optimal combinations of teas, tinctures, and powders that can be used to achieve each individual's mental health goals. We conduct this research with the goal of allowing people to make informed decisions about their health and to increase access to healthy stress-coping alternatives. These healthy coping mechanisms can reduce reliance on harmful self-medication practices such as alcohol abuse or behavior likely to lead to opioid addiction. Value Proposition: Tinctures, teas and powders from herbal medicine combinations can represent better risk/reward ratios Through citizen science and data science over time we have the aspirational goal to meet and exceed evidence parity with regards to evidence of effectiveness for herbal medicines for stress & anxiety compared with pharmaceuticals. That mission is attractive for people to participate in as its an opportunity for global collaboration to create increasingly usable natural medicine for stress and anxiety. The only way CrowdDoing.world can realize its impact potential is through virtual volunteers, service learners(http://blog.reframeit.com/service-learning-and-skilled-volunteering/), and micro-leaders (https://real-leaders.com/leveraging-micro-leadership-to-make-aspirational-goals-achievable/) coming together.

See this brief video aboutMicro-leadership at CrowdDoing (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhdB2YJ8Ocs&app=desktop). Micro-leadership means that each person adopts a dimension of responsibility for a collective problem in our society through collaborating on that area creatively individually and together through social innovation.
