United Way of Southwest Louisiana is recruiting volunteers to help hard-working individuals and families in our community with their income tax preparation. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $66,000 or less, persons with disabilities, senior citizens and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals

YOU WILL RECEIVE FREE MATERIALS, TRAINING & TESTING TO BECOME IRS CERTIFIED.
Training sessions will begin in November for the 2019-2020 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in Southwest Louisiana.

Volunteers will assist with one of four Holiday Gift Distribution parties at our community centers. Located in Annandale, Centerville, near Fair Oaks Mall, and near George Mason, these centers are hot spots of poverty. The children in our centers are able to pick out and wrap a gift for their sibling and their parent. Volunteers will assist with set up, tear down, gift distribution, and wrapping the holiday gifts. It's a great opportunity to have a hands-on experience with the people FACETS is serving.
