Join us for the feel good food event of the year! TasteBuds features talented chefs from around the Greater Philadelphia area serving signature dishes, while showing the power of friendship and inclusion.

Each chef will team up with a buddy pair to present a delicious dish and they'll work together to compete for the title of Champion of the Year by raising funds to support Best Buddies programs.

Guests will see our mission first hand as they enjoy a sampling of culinary delights, live music, open bar and an incredible silent auction! Don't miss this wonderful night of food, fun and friendship!

Join us at North Penn Fire Hall Social Club on October 19, 2018 for an evening of food, fun and friendship to raise funds for Katie Spencer's campaign for Best Buddies Champion of the Year! Katie recently joined the Best Buddies Citizens Program and was matched with her new BFF Jaime. Now she wants more of her friends with intellectual and developmental disabilities to experience the joy that friendship can bring. When Katie sets her mind to something, she doesn't quit! With that in mind, she is campaigning to raise the most funds for Best Buddies by our TasteBuds event on Monday, November 12th when she'll work side by side with a chef to prepare a delicious dish while showcasing the power of inclusion.
You can help Katie's campaign by lending your volunteer support. Tasks include assisting with set up and clean up, serving food and selling raffle tickets.

SPA is hosting its annual bowling fundraiser, luau style for the whole family to enjoy! Funds raised go towards operating expenses for the ministry and the women we serve through residential treatment services. SPA is a one year program that offers women an opportunity to make positive and permanent life changes in a Christ-centered environment. Since 1998, SPA has provided an opportunity for women to establish a deeper relationship with God as He delivers them from the bondage of debilitating issues such as addiction and painful life experiences, empowering them to change their lives and reunite with their families.

We would love to have assistance with setting up & tearing down registration tables, activity stations, and decorations before the event. Volunteers can then help during the event by assisting families and helping with activities such as hula hoop & limbo contests, judging competitions, and encouraging participation in all the fun!

Opportunity Details

As a volunteer mentor, you would be matched with a single mom and her children for a one-on-one match. Matched pairs spend about two hours per week together: discussing parenting issues, working on personal goals, going for coffee or walks, and enjoying fun activities.
Mentors should have parenting experience, be personally suitable and mature, exhibit mental and emotional competence, be reliable and of good character, dependable, punctual, honest, fun-loving and committed to open communication. They will be a consistent and positive role model to their mentee by modelling responsible behaviours such as reliability, respect, and honesty, along with a concern for the protection and well-being of children.
They should have the ability to relate to children and adults, adapt to change, and to work with the 1 Up Single Parent Resource Centre as a team member.
Benefit to the Volunteer are being part of a community, building new friendships, supporting a single mother, and spending time with her and her children while sharing your interests and skills.
Time Commitment: 2 hours per week in person or on the phone or email, plus two meetings per month for 9 months out of the year. You can still take breaks to travel etc. as desired.
