Kidney Walk Special Event Volunteer - Ontario Branch

Description: The Kidney Foundation of Canada requires Special Event volunteers to support the Ontario Kidney Walks in the following areas:
• Registration
• Route Marshaling/Cheer Crowd
• Set Up/Take Down
• Food and Beverage Stations
• Kids Activities
• Photography

Groups Served: Kidney patients, their families, renal practitioners and doctors

Skills Required: Friendly, enthusiastic and enjoys working with others. Must be able to work as part of a team. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Previous volunteer experience at a special event is an asset

Task Requirements: Carrying and lifting; Dexterity and agility; Walking and/or standing; Communication; Reading and Writing

Suitable for: Corporate Teams; Groups of volunteers

Training: Information with meeting spot and staff lead will be provided to all volunteers in advance of event day. Staff member on-site provides additional orientation and training during the event.

Accessibility: Has accessible parking; Has accessible washrooms

Opportunity Details

To provide homeless children a positive back to school experience by giving them a backpack filled with essential items needed for a successful return to school. We receive the name and underwear size, clothing, and shoe size of every homeless child and these items are personalized for each child and placed in the bags. Toiletries, school supplies and books are also included. Only NEW ITEMS are given to the children.

Opportunity Details

High Voltage is working with the Disney Family Volunteer Program and Points of Light Foundation this summer to promote family volunteering . We need families to help prepare a holiday meal for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House on Memorial Day. Families are also needed to help clean the common areas of the Ronald McDonald House followed by a Memorial Day Picnic. This is limited opportunity (35 people total). Opportunity Details

Rock The Runway is our annual fundraising event for Cancer Perks. This is a fashion show fundraiser where all models are cancer patients, survivors or those walking in memory of loved ones in Pettis and Saline counties. Money raised at this event goes to fund the patient needs in our two counties through our Cancer Perks Organization. This year we have a goal of $40,000 to start a transportation program.
