Our volunteer abroad program in Gambia, West Africa provides you with unique opportunities to live and work in Africa, while giving back to the global community and immersing yourself in the local culture. Have you dreamed about traveling to a developing country, spending your time in a meaningful way, and immersing yourself in a new culture? Community service and volunteering abroad is a life-changing experience where you expand your horizons.Volunteers we are looking for
Teacher | Coach | Medical Personnel
Teacher Volunteer:
The public education systems in Gambia and most of Africa do not offer high quality ESL (English as a Second Language) classes. Speaking English is a life-changing skill for people in developing countries, because the language opens both academic and professional opportunities, and provides a path out of poverty.
Coach Volunteer:
Soccer/ Football is an integral element of the culture in Africa. Love of and dedication to the sport is the way in which Kalabash Academy is able to create commitment to education within its students. Further, without athletic excellence Kalabash’s students will struggle to access higher education. Coaching volunteers are essential to the success of our program.
Medical Personnel Volunteer:
In West Africa, less than 16% of the population has access to medical care. And those that do, it is often low quality care. The population is roughly 41% under the age of 15. Such a striking statistic illustrates the incompetent medical care in West Africa, demonstrating the desperate need of medical volunteers.
Why should you be involved?
Volunteering abroad is an exceptionally fun and fulfilling way to travel, while also gaining skills and connections to build a career with. If you’re excited at the possibility of doing meaningful work in an exciting new destination, all the while making incredible new friends and immersing in new cultures, then this program is for you.
