For the past 25 years, the Taft Raider Band Boosters have provided volunteer staffing as monitors at the exhibit entrances for the Texas Music Educator's Association (TMEA) Convention at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in downtown San Antonio. This convention is the largest convention in San Antonio and is expecting approximately 20,000 people. The Taft Raider Band Boosters receive a large donation for their assistance in providing volunteers for this event which goes to support the Taft Raider Band program.  The contribution allows for the purchase of band equipment, instruments, clinicians and anything that is needed to support our students within the program. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or older. We hope that you help us reach our goal!

The FIRST LEGO League Project changes with the yearly Challenge theme and is the opportunity for the teams to explore the topic in depth and allows them to have a firsthand opportunity in proposing a solution to a problem they selected.

The Project assignment given to the teams for the INTO ORBIT season is to identify a physical or social problem faced by humans during long duration space exploration within our Sun’s solar system and propose a solution.
For the INTO ORBIT Challenge, a physical problem is one that impacts the immediate health or safety of a space explorer, such as the need for air, water, food or exercise. A social problem is one that could affect the long-term ability of a human to be productive in space, like isolation and boredom. “Long duration” space exploration means spending a year or more in outer space.
