Kriti is an NGO working in the Film Nagar area slums for the last 15 years. Under Project Disha, our Scholarship program for the underprivileged, Kriti has provided scholarships for over 2500 children. Most of these children are in the first generation in their families to finish 10th grade. Their parents are mostly illiterate and unable to provide proper opportunities for their children. They are also unable to navigate the career options that could possibly open up for their children as they themselves are unaware.
Along with providing scholarships, Kriti has had an active mentoring program, Project Prerana, for the children.
The mentoring sessions are being planned as follows:
• Kriti will assign 2 volunteers for each group of 5-6 children.

Kofi Annan, ex-secretary general of the United Nations once said, "Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family". Quality education is a fundamental right and should not be a privilege of only a few who can afford it.Founded on the core belief that the best use of education received from society is the selfless service of society, the Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Gurukulam (SSSLSG) is a leading group of educational institutions in India that provides high quality, values based holistic education, totally FREE of cost to the deprived and needy children to create strong individuals with a brilliant intellect, compassionate heart and competent hands. These institutions are typically located in the rural interior areas where many of the students, especially the girls, are first-generation literates. Today there are 24 such high quality institutions located across 16 districts of the Indian state of Karnataka, besides one in the state of Telangana.
During this year (2020), SSSLS Gurukulam has commenced production of online video lessons to make up for the loss of knowledge and classes among students studying across various campuses. These lessons are not restricted to only the school children attending SSSLSG institutions but have also been opened up for ALL school children across the entire country totally free of charge, via below channels like YouTube, mobile app and a website.

Become a mentor for children across the globe! This is an incredible way to give service online, especially since most of the world's schools are still closed due to COVId-19, and this is the only educational resource these kids will have. It’s super easy to get to started (go to Portal.villagebookbuilders.org and register), and it’s fun to get connected and help mentor these children. Once you are paired with a child, your sessions only take 30 minutes a week, and our fun interactive training sessions will help you be successful.
Education opens children’s minds to a world of possibilities and gives them the tools they need to dream bigger. And you can inspire that within them through mentoring!
Quote from fellow Nike Employees
This amazing experience just recently started and I am absolutely happy. Because it is not only about myself helping someone, it is about the gift I receive from the energy of the person I am teaching something. In my case, Dixon is a wonderful boy, he is curious and very intelligent, he loves Math and geography, so we speak about these themes in our sessions. I learn about Uganda with him, and I teach all what he asks to know. It's been a win-win experience. - Sara Gorozabel
