Title: CASA VolunteerPurpose: CASA Volunteers will help us reach 100% of youth (ages 0-21) in foster care in Prince George’s County, MD. Currently, CASA/Prince George’s County serves more than 200 children in care in Prince George’s County. However, there are still about 300 children who need a CASA, but there is a lack of volunteer advocates available. By becoming a CASA Volunteer today, you can help us positively impact the lives of youth in foster care.
Descriptions of Duties: Mentor a child or teen twice a month, write a court report advocating for the child’s best interests, and present the recommendations in the court report twice a year at civil court hearings.
Qualifications: Enjoy working with children and teens, must be willing to maintain youth’s confidentiality, Open to learning about child welfare.
Time Requirements: CASA volunteers are required to volunteer 10-15 hours per month, which includes meeting with their assigned child or teen twice a month and communication with the important adults in the child/teen’s life.
Orientation/Training: Pre-service – 37-hour training to learn about trauma-informed volunteering and the impact a CASA volunteer makes on the life of a youth. Ongoing in-service training – 12 hours per year to learn about relevant topics to youth today (i.e. disability, educational needs, mental health first aid, etc.)

ciencepalooza! is a science fair exclusively for students in the East Side Union High School District (grades 9-12). It encourages first-time fair participants and over 600 students are expected to participate this year.Each pair of Judges will choose one Katherine Johnson Award Winner (most outstanding project) and two Rachel Carson Award Winners (projects that deserve honorable mention.)

*Judges will be provided with suggested questions for students and all necessary scoring information.
*The majority of projects are at an introductory level and entered by ninth graders.
*The projects are either experiments or investigations.
*The projects need to be evaluated by someone familiar with the scientific method.
*Up to three students may work on the same project.
*Judges will work in pairs and will review and score around 15 projects.
*Parking passes and additional information will be sent via email.
*Breakfast will be provided

The Hispanic Mentoring Program launched in February 2019 with a goal of helping to increase the graduation rate of Hispanic students through mentorship (middle school). This past summer, our program hosted a one week summer camp filled with arts & crafts, STEM sessions, and a field trip. Volunteer Opportunity: Women in Tech (WiT) Program – Fall 2025Paper Airplanes is a U.S.-registered nonprofit dedicated to empowering conflict-affected individuals through personalized online education. We offer three core programs: English, Women in Tech (WiT), and Professional Skills Development.
The Women in Tech program is now recruiting volunteer tutors and mentors for the Fall 2025 semester (September–December). Volunteers will support students enrolled in courses including Python (Beginner & Intermediate), Business Analytics (Beginner & Intermediate), Web Development (Beginner & Intermediate), AI, and UX Design.
Volunteer Roles & Commitments:
Tutors: 4–6 hours/week
Deliver weekly lessons using provided curricula
Provide timely homework feedback
Collaborate with mentors and staff
Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings
Support curriculum improvements and offer extra help as needed
Mentors: 2–4 hours/week
Guide students through coursework and challenges
Support final project completion
Attend weekly staff meetings
Training:
All conditionally accepted volunteers must complete a 2-hour self-paced online training before classes begin, covering program policies, teaching tools, curriculum, and student context.
