This event is for three Atlanta area high schools, Henry W. Grady (Thursday, 11/1), Coretta Scott King (Tuesday, 11/13) and Benjamin E. Mays (Thursday, 11/15), to experience a hands on simulation on life as an adult. They will have to budget, pay bills and handle living as a young adult in the world. This event will be our largest concert of the fall season, featuring all five levels of our program. All of our students will be performing, so we will need plenty of help behind the scenes (coordinating students, communicating with parents, setting up the stage and audience areas, etc.) and with ushering and refreshments. In addition to the concert, we are planning a Silent Auction. Before the concert and during intermission, those attending and participating in the event will have the opportunity to place silent bids on items that have been donated. Proceeds will go toward student programming. We will also need help with auction set-up and tear-down.This concert will be the culminating event of our fall season, and will be a wonderful opportunity for students to demonstrate what they've learned this year to family, friends, and community. It will also be a chance for any community members to attend a free, public concert of classical music in a family-friendly environment. The silent auction component of the event will be a fundraiser for our organization. Proceeds will go toward student programming. Because the nominal tuition we charge covers only about one third of the cost of each student's participation in our programs, we must fundraise to cover the remaining costs.
