UPchieve is a free, online platform that connects low-income students in the US with live, volunteer coaches (that’s you!) any time they need it. Our volunteer experience was designed to be ultra-flexible because we believe it should be easy for awesome people like you to help students succeed. Our text-based chat allows you to help students from anywhere with an internet connection: whether that be from your desk at work or from the comfort of your couch!

How You Can Help
As an academic coach, you’ll work directly with motivated students, 13+ who can’t afford private tutoring or admissions consulting and often don’t have anyone else they can turn to for help. All of our students attend Title 1 schools or live in low-income zip codes.

Steps:
1. Create a volunteer account at upchieve.org/volunteer
2. Complete UPchieve 101. This 30-60 minute training will help you feel confident when working with students.
3. Pass at least one quiz in any of our subjects! We provide review materials & encourage using Google.
4. Select when you want to be notified of student requests. UPchieve will text you when a student needs your help! No worries if you can't pick up every request! UPchieve notifies multiple volunteers when a student needs help.
5. Begin making an impact! Many students will go from confused to confident in the course of just one tutoring session. Those “aha” moments feel great!

Are you passionate about global health and healthy living? Spread awareness about the importance of healthy lifestyles while making a significant impact on global health by becoming an Arogya Changemaker. By joining this group of dedicated volunteers, you will have the opportunity to host a walk or other event of your choosing in your community to promote healthy living and noncommunicable disease prevention. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with the Arogya World team and connect with passionate, like-minded individuals from across the country. Join the Arogya World team at one of our partner schools to observe and support the delivery of our health education programming to middle schoolers. Get a first-hand look at our innovative and engaging curriculum as you support the peer leaders and students during their lessons. Opportunities for volunteers are available across India including Mumbai, Gurgaon, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, and a mutually convenient date will be scheduled with our staff between June 15th and July 31st.

Please note that for everyone’s health and safety, we ask that all volunteers monitor their health and do not volunteer if exhibiting a fever, cough, or any other flu-like symptoms. Additionally, we require volunteers to wear a mask at all times while in the schools.

Opportunity Details

Our volunteer groups support Thinkery through behind-the-scenes prep and some guest-facing roles. These group volunteer opportunities primarily occur on-site at Thinkery and offer your group a great way to build team spirit while supporting STEAM learning for all.

TLT-Tomorrow's Leaders Today (TLT) is looking for members who are experienced with working with youth, experienced in board governance, fundraising, marketing and development and grant writing. Our hybrid meetings (Jan, Mar, May, Aug, Sept, Nov) are hybrid, physically held at a location in Collin County, TX and via zoom.

Board of Director Qualifications and Requirements are:

1 Each Director of the board must be a U.S. citizen, reside in Collin, Denton, Dallas, or Tarrant County, Texas and have attained the age of 18 years.

2 Directors elected to the board should have graduated from a Leadership Program or have taken part in a similar experience.

3 Directors of the Board appointed by the holder of any office, or an Officer or board of any other organization are to act in their own right and not as a representative of any interest or group.

4 Each Director of the Board, 18 years and older, must have successfully passed a multi-state criminal background verification annually, prior to attending any event where the TLT participants are present. The results of all information will be maintained by the Executive Director and remain confidential. The Executive Director will inform the Secretary of the status to be noted as completed in the minutes.

5 Each Director must commit a minimum of six (6) hours monthly of time, talent, treasure and/or facilitating program sessions to support the mission of the organization. **All positions.

6 Each Director must act in the best interests of TLT – Tomorrow’s Leaders Today (TLT), and to make recommendations based on his or her experience and vantage point.

7 Each Director must avoid conflicts of interest and make notice of them when they arise.

8 Each Director must attend and participate in bi-monthly meetings on a regular basis, and special events as able.

9 Each Director must participate on a standing committee of the board, and serve on ad-hoc committees as necessary.

10 Each Director member must be alert to community concerns that can be addressed by TLT’s mission, objectives, and programs especially those in underserved communities/populations.

11 Each Director member must help communicate and promote TLT’s mission and programs to the community.

12 Each Director must be familiar with TLT’s finances, budget, and financial/resource needs.

13 Each Director must be familiar with TLT’s policies and procedures.

14 Each Director must financially support and promote TLT in a manner commensurate with one’s ability to raise or donate a minimum of $2,000 annually or $167 per month.

The purpose of the Young Audiences of Houston Board of Directors is to generate the resources to fund YAH’s strategic initiatives that advance the organization’s mission and vision. Our continued success depends on the personal commitment and active involvement in governance and fundraising of a select group of elected individuals, who embrace the privilege to serve and the responsibility to lead, and who bring personal or business resources and the ability to support the organizations’ purpose. Board members
are expected to be zealous advocates on our behalf, enthusiastic communicators of our mission and vision, and to play an integral role in our leadership development and fundraising activities.

Vertical Skills Academy is hosting it's first annual Rockin' Dyslexia fundraiser. We are raising money for scholarships so that more children with dyslexia in grades 1-8 can attend our school to gain the literacy skills needed. This is a private event with 200 attendees. There will be a band, food and libations.
