Teaching For Impact (TFI) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Australia. The VCE program at TFI aims to provide accessible academic resources to students from disadvantaged and rural backgrounds. Our team is currently developing an online teaching platform consisting of online video tutorials and a forum discussion space. Being online, this platform has the potential to reach thousands of students despite geographical distance. We are currently looking for volunteers to help us develop this platform, so that more students can benefit from our program.

At JA Finance Park presented by the USAA Foundation, each student becomes “an adult for the day” in an electronic simulation. The students are assigned a life scenario so they can experience firsthand the real-life challenges of making personal budgeting decisions. After calculating their net monthly income and savings goals, students visit kiosks that represent different budget categories such housing, health insurance, groceries, and utilities. Anyone with real world monthly budgeting experience can become a volunteer. JA Finance Park Volunteers play a key role by helping the students understand the concepts of personal financial planning and career exploration. Volunteers provide guidance and assistance while monitoring and verifying students’ work.

We are collecting school supplies and financial donations for this year's event in August. You can collect and call me for pick up and pictures or information about your company or organization. You can also drop off at Baraboo Children's Museum or at 717 Ridge Street, Baraboo. We are in need of #2 pencils, wide line spiral notebooks and loose leaf paper, binder dividers with pockets, 2" binders, 2 pocket folders, washable classic markers, 24 pk crayons, black wide line dry erase markers, erasers, black and blue pens, bright colored teen to adult size backpacks and wired ear buds. We are about $2,000 behind budget right now but climbing toward our goal!

Opportunity Details

The G4C Student Challenge is an international game design competition that invites youth to create digital games inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The program uses youth interest in video games to develop coding and digital design skills, as well as problem solving, collaboration, creativity, and other critical STEAM skills.

The jury process involves playing and scoring student-made digital games, assessing slide decks showcasing student-made tabletop games, reviewing character designs, or reading and scoring video game reviews according to the G4C Learn evaluation criteria. Judges will have 6 days to complete approximately 1-2 hours of game reviews.

Digital game submissions are accessible via a web browser URL and can be played on both PCs and Macs, or they are recorded walkthroughs of the game (in the case of games made using Minecraft or Roblox). Tabletop games, character designs, and impact game reviews are submitted as PDFs with images and writing to evaluate. Judging will take place between mid-April 2024 and the beginning of May 2024.

Mondays or Tuesdays for 2 hours between 10AM-6PM, team up with professional & novice chefs to create free healthy meals to be delivered to homes of people experiencing health crises such as cancer.
