Angel Xpress Foundation enables educated and committed citizens to tutor, mentor and guide school going children from slums in their neighbourhoods.Who is AXF?
- 12A & 80G NGO
- 700 volunteers
- 2200+ students
- 20 Free Learning Centres across Mumbai
Who are our regular volunteers?
Stay-at-home mums, retired citizens, students, free lancers, anyone who can spare 2-3 hrs / week.
What do we teach?
English, Math, Lifeskills, SSC curriculum for grades 8 to 12, spoken english, digital literacy
Online volunteering during covid 19
Given the need for social distancing in the times of Covid19, we are moving our teaching module to online and are offering those interested in interacting with children & youth an opportunity to teach them at a time mutually convenient for both volunteer and students.
A volunteer will be connected to one/two students, interaction to be twice a week ideally lasting 30 to 45 minutes. Content and training will be provided by AXF
What can you teach:
1. Any subject in the SSC curriculum for grades 8 to 12. Teaching to be done in Hindi and English mix as students have a limited understanding of English. This is the choice for which you are most likely to find willing students presently.
Referring to text books in both Hindi and English helps in preparing a lesson. Sending preparatory videos/worksheets for a concept for self study by student before embarking on the lesson is advised.
2. Teaching English or Math concepts as per AXF curriculum to students from grades 6 to 8, where required if a student in a higher grade has a weaker grasp on concepts, you can use the AXF curriculum to help bridge his/her learning level while also helping them complete school work, which they feel is more important but since the grade level is much higher than their ability, working at that level does not help in the learning process, more time should be spend on building their basics simultaneously.
3. Creating SSC subject video lessons in hindi for online teaching support to add to our youtube channel that is being created for this purpose https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCH6s2CYJuQko9MQp_YT_Qjg/playlists?fbclid=IwAR2dzCL17NIRxEbFXfVmxwSaKQM3qsS7YZhTb6XlfabwF81FyjF0Hops_9w
4. Teaching and interacting with 11th and 12th grade kids under Youth Engagement Program. Spojen English, Digital Literacy, Discussing news, other items of general i nterest that can help groom them into a positive, preofeesional mindset. Include academic and vocational guidance if you are confident of your knowledge.
5. Teaching art /craft/ engaging children through story telling and discussion
Mode to be used: whatsapp/Google meet/zoom/duo/microsoft teams or regular voice calls.
Tools: Videos/PDFs/worksheets etc
It is important to give your time towards a cause you believe in, a quality which Angel Xpress Foundation admires and advocates. We are so happy to invite you on board the 'Good Karma Xpress'! Join us in a journey towards spreading happiness.
