Science Olympiad tournaments are like track and field meets - but for kids interested in STEM. Students compete with their partners in 23 unique events. It requires a small army of volunteers to pull this off. We would love community assistance with our build events. Students will bring balsa airplanes, wheeled vehicles, etc., and adults are needed to time how long these run. No training, advance knowledge, or equipment required! Community volunteers would work under the supervision of adults who are experienced in running these events.

Dear Commissioner [Commissioner's Name],

Subject: Invitation to Launch Afrikindness' Africa Awareness Week

I hope this letter finds you well. On behalf of Afrikindness, a children-led, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting compassion, empathy, and kindness, I am writing to extend a heartfelt invitation to you as a special guest to launch our inaugural Africa Awareness Week.

The Africa Awareness Week is an exceptional initiative aimed at fostering cultural awareness, diversity, and kindness among students as part of the Black History Month celebration in October. This dynamic learning experience will take students on an exciting journey through the history, culture, and lifestyle of Africa. As part of our holistic and engaging approach, we aim to inspire curiosity and cultural awareness among students in schools across the UK.

At Afrikindness, we are committed to challenging negative narratives and stereotypes about Africa that perpetuate harmful misconceptions, racial bullying, and a sense of inferiority among children and young people. Our mission is to create a balanced view that celebrates the beauty of Africa's diversity, promotes cultural inclusiveness, kindness, and racial harmony in schools.

We believe that by fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of African culture, we can empower children and young people to embrace their identity, find purpose and drive, and break the cycle of self-doubt. The Africa Awareness Week is a vital step towards creating a more inclusive and harmonious society where all children feel valued, respected, and understood. The awareness campaign will have teachers training workshop on inclusive learning, children activities, webinars, podcasts, educational resources to schools tec

Prep for Prep’s mission is to develop future leaders by creating access for young people of color to first-rate educational, leadership development and professional advancement opportunities. Prep for Prep’s 13 year continuum of programming is a transformational experience for our students and their families, evident in the personal and professional achievements and growth of our alumni. With the integration of our new Mental Wellness Department and the hiring of a new Director of Post-Placement Counseling, this past year has seen a greater integration of parent engagement in our programming.

To ensure families have full understanding about the educational opportunities offered by Prep for Prep, we need to expand the languages our materials are offered in. Volunteers with language proficiency can help us translate various informational materials. There is a particularly high need for translations to Spanish, Bengali and Mandarin but we will accept volunteers with other language capabilities. Pending capacity of space, we may also have activities for volunteers to call prospective families with information about admission to Prep for Prep.
