Our interviewers work directly with veterans and help them tell their stories, all while drawing out their important life lessons. This role puts you at the forefront of The Project's vital work. You will have the opportunity to experience, first-hand, the catharsis that occurs as veterans and their loved ones tell their stories and understand their experiences. You will surely develop a new perspective and build deeper interpersonal understanding as you conduct these interviews.Interviewers do not need any previous experience to get involved. We require a simple willingness to talk openly and listen empathetically! Interviewers can conduct one interview or continue them on a recurring basis. We offer personalized guidance to each volunteer to help them prepare for this role. We ensure that our volunteers are ready to interact with and serve veterans. We encourage interviewers to seek out veterans they know personally. Though if you do not know a veteran or service member, we can connect you with someone who wants to tell their story.
Each interview lasts roughly 90 minutes and interviewers can complete them in person or remotely via a platform such as Zoom. Join The American Legacy Project today!

Opportunity Details
Will be used in Science and Math periods to help children learn concepts. Topics, resources, guidelines and some sample videos will be shared once volunteers express interest in taking up the task.How and where to curate from
From the internet, YouTube, Khan Academy, Etc.
While sourcing the videos, these are a few things to keep in mind.
1. Keep the videos short; students’ attention spans are very less. The longer the video the lesser the learnings will be. Ideal video size less than 5 mins, best would be 3-4 mins.
2. Ensure that the speaker in the video isn’t talking too fast, our experience has taught us that students enjoy watching videos with normal speech pace.
3. No western accent, videos with neutral accent work great.
4. Find videos with graphic, learning from our experience was that students enjoy watching videos where something is happening, like an activity, an experiment or a graphic simulation.
5. Videos with subtitles and notes embedded are definitely a yes!
6. Let’s try finding videos that are culturally relevant, most of our students are from a rural background. So, videos that may be okay for an average urban child may not be relatable to some of our children.

Quality education is a fundamental right and should not be a privilege of only a few who can afford it.Founded on the core belief that the best use of education received from society is the selfless service of society, the Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Gurukulam (SSSLSG) is a leading group of educational institutions in India that provides high quality, values based holistic education, totally FREE of cost to the deprived and needy children to create strong individuals with a brilliant intellect, compassionate heart and competent hands. These institutions are typically located in the rural interior areas where many of the students, especially the girls, are first-generation literates. Today there are 24 such high quality institutions located across 16 districts of the Indian state of Karnataka, besides one in the state of Telangana.
During this year (2020), SSSLS Gurukulam has commenced production of online video lessons to make up for the loss of knowledge and classes among students studying across various campuses. These lessons are not restricted to only the school children attending SSSLSG institutions but have also been opened up for ALL school children across the entire country totally free of charge, via below channels like YouTube, mobile app and a website.

There is now a plan to accelerate the growth of these activities across a number of dimensions including introduction of new lessons, enhanced learning experience by leveraging latest technologies, and deploying AI-based assessment mechanisms. Interested volunteers who are skilled at various relevant areas of expertise may come forward and be part of this journey. There are several areas that you - or someone you want to recommend - could volunteer. Examples of areas of help needed include: Content writing/editing, Social Media Management, Video Editing, Graphic Designing, Web/App development, Radio presentation etc.
