The Calgary Youth Science Fair Society (CYSFS) is comprised of members and a working board that plan and deliver the annual Calgary Youth Science Fair (CYSF). We are always looking for enthusiastic and passionate individuals to volunteer their time and skills to ensure that the CYSF is an exceptional event for Calgary youth to share their STEM undertakings with judges, their peers and the public. Kofi Annan, ex-secretary general of the United Nations once said, "Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family". Quality education is a fundamental right and should not be a privilege of only a few who can afford it.Founded on the core belief that the best use of education received from society is the selfless service of society, the Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Gurukulam (SSSLSG) is a leading group of educational institutions in India that provides high quality, values based holistic education, totally FREE of cost to the deprived and needy children to create strong individuals with a brilliant intellect, compassionate heart and competent hands. These institutions are typically located in the rural interior areas where many of the students, especially the girls, are first-generation literates. Today there are 24 such high quality institutions located across 16 districts of the Indian state of Karnataka, besides one in the state of Telangana.
During this year (2020), SSSLS Gurukulam has commenced production of online video lessons to make up for the loss of knowledge and classes among students studying across various campuses. These lessons are not restricted to only the school children attending SSSLSG institutions but have also been opened up for ALL school children across the entire country totally free of charge, via below channels like YouTube, mobile app and a website.

There is now a plan to accelerate the growth of these activities across a number of dimensions including the introduction of new lessons, enhanced learning experience by leveraging the latest technologies and deploying AI-based assessment mechanisms. Interested volunteers who are skilled in various relevant areas of expertise may come forward and be part of this journey. There are several areas that you - or someone you want to recommend - could volunteer. Examples of areas of help needed include Content writing/editing, Social Media Management, Video Editing, Graphic Designing, Web/App development, Radio presentation, etc.

The closure of schools that began in the spring has served to only widen the educational gap between economically disadvantaged students and others. With school closures taking place for the foreseeable future it is imperative that we give economically disadvantaged students the attention they need to not fall behind.Pandemicprofessors.org, a 501c3 organization, was founded in April by Berkeley alumni to achieve the mission of facilitating free online tutoring to low-income communities affected by the pandemic. It is a 100% volunteer-based organization. Our philosophy not only supports academic achievements, but also emphasizes the importance of socio-emotional health in these isolating times.
We currently serve over 115 underserved students with the help of 150 dedicated volunteer staff and tutors. With the significant demand that we are seeing, we want to be able to serve more families and communities in need. We need your help!
With the huge influx of students, we are asking people to volunteer with us.
Becoming a Remote Volunteer Staff/Consultant:
As a volunteer staff or consultant, you will help the organization run smoothly and deliver the best services possible to students in need. We are looking to expand our capacities and optimize our services using data-driven decision making and human-centered design. Your position will depend upon your personal goals and skills.
Specific professional background or interests include:
-Project management (especially those with training/experience in agile project management)
-User experience researchers and designers
-Web/graphic designers
-Data scientists and data engineers
-Fundraising & development
-Grant writing
-Marketing & Social Media
-Accounting
-Legal services
Requirements:
-5 or more hours per week (flexibility for work schedules and life responsibilities)

Once you are paired with a child, your sessions only take 30 minutes a week, and our fun interactive training sessions will help you be successful.

We have the opportunity to redesign our curriculum to meet the needs of the world today. Opportunities include the age groups of early Headstart, Headstar, Elementary, Middle school, and high school. Curriculum would need to meet the gold standards for each age group as relating to movement classes.If you have experience writing curriculum and lesson planning as specific to these age groups and can make the focus on movement and dance, then you would be a great fit.

With deadlines for UCAS applications upcoming, especially for Oxbridge, now is a crucial time for students to start finalising their personal statements. Norlington School and Sixth Form are conducting personal statement review sessions for Y13 students applying to university. This session is aimed at refining students' personal statements and boosting their confidence in their skills and the application process in general. Volunteers do not need to have a particular line of expertise to take part in this workshop, as they will be giving top tips on personal statements and advice on points such as coherence, grammar, organisation and general content.ELBA will host the workshop over Zoom and facilitate the session. A full volunteer brief will be provided to volunteers ahead of the virtual session.
