Opportunity Details

The Wonderment Maker Bus is designed to be a mobile center where kids in Salt Lake City refugee communities can access creative technology, make connections and share what they create with kids around the world. It pulls up fully stocked with an array of tools for kids to make, connect, share, and celebrate; kids have access to resources that allow them to bring whatever they dream up into the real world.
We're looking for local volunteers to help teach classes and looking for ways/activities to connect refugee and mainstream communities.

Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. The JA Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser helps provides the funding needed for these programs. The day of the event, volunteers are needed to help distribute materials, event set up/take down, staff assistance, hand out prizes, bowler check-in, and with handing out prizes awarded during each shift.

Opportunity Details

Kohl's volunteers were a tremendous assistance last year in breaking down the BGCA Pacific Regional Arts Show which we hosted at the Club. 900 pieces of art from 50 Clubs in the Pacific Region are on display in the gym, and we have to get them all packaged back up into the right boxes to return to the Clubs. We also break down the displays and tables, and help with that is great. Timing is flexible - if 9-12 or 10-1 or anything you like is better, just let us know!

Opportunity Details

The Peoria Diamond Club (PDC) volunteers hold a wide variety of positions at the Spring Training baseball games of the Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres. For example, we usher, take tickets, work the parking lots, provide Guest Services, sell scorecards, monitor group events, etc. There is on-the-job training and likely something right for you! If you are active and able, your experience will not only be fun, but rewarding. The PDC gives back to the community, in the way of grant funding, to northwest valley youth charities. It's a win-win for everyone. We ask for an 8 game minimum out of the spring training month and the assignments are typically a 4 hour shift.

Celebrating our 15th year of operation, Financial Beginnings Oregon’s mission is to empower youth and adults to take control of their financial futures. To accomplish this, we partner with schools and community-based organizations across the state to provide free financial education to the communities they serve, preparing participants of all ages to make healthy, proactive financial decisions. Since our founding, we have provided free financial education to more than 170,000 Oregonians, including more than 13,000 last year.

All of our financial education programs are taught by trained volunteers, and we are looking for new volunteers to help us create even more financial education opportunities across the state!

New volunteers at Financial Beginnings Oregon receive a thorough introduction to our work before getting into the classroom. This includes an orientation and training session, and the opportunity to shadow an experienced volunteer to get a feel for our programs. Once you are ready to get out and teach, we will provide you with all the necessary materials to make your lesson a success: pre-made powerpoint presentations that include presenter's notes, guides for the students to help them follow along, hands-on activities for the classroom, and more. To help protect everyone's health and safety during the pandemic, all of our programs are being taught virtually, so you can teach from the comfort of your own home!

Our volunteers come from all walks of life. We don't require you to be financial professionals, or to come from any specific background. All we ask is that you, like us, believe that our community can benefit from simple personal finance lessons!

What: Colleg Prep Workshop

The college prep-workshop targets high school students of the Washington and Douglas High School Clusters. Students will hear from a diverse group of professionals, on their personal path to success. Volunteers are needed to participate in a speed mentoring session immediately following the panelist Q&A. Volunteers will meet one-on-one with the students to review resumes, find scholarships, and discuss future aspirations.

The AFJROTC program includes high school students from all six Delaware County High Schools. While developing teamwork and leadership skills, cadets learn the values of citizenship, patriotism, service to their community, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment.

AFJROTC prepares these young Americans to better serve their communities as leaders, as citizens and in military service should they choose to enter it.

On Febuary,17 2018 we are hosting the 15th annual Regional Drill Meet, which will be held at Rutherford B. Hayes High School. Around 10 schools in total participate in this event. It is a full day of drill and ceremonies competition according to military standards. It strengthens team and leadership skills.
