Following the closure of 7 regional Office for Civil Rights (OCR) offices, 30 million K–12 students are left vulnerable to discrimination, neglect, and systemic inequities.

We need a talented volunteer to help us develop a compelling PowerPoint presentation that tells the story of why our program exists—and why it matters now more than ever.

Your presentation will help us educate stakeholders, engage potential funders, and rally new supporters to stand up for students’ civil rights.

What You’ll Do:

- Design a visually engaging, branded PowerPoint presentation (10–15 slides)
- Organize key messages about the issue, our response, and the need for support
- Incorporate relevant statistics, quotes, and real-life examples
- Ensure the presentation can be easily used for webinars, virtual meetings, and in-person events

Ideal for Volunteers With Experience In:
Corporate communications, nonprofit storytelling, business development, pitch decks, or visual storytelling.

Why This Matters:
Many people don’t realize how recent closures of 7 OCR regional offices have left our most vulnerable students unprotected. This presentation will help us raise awareness, inspire action, and grow support for emergency response programs that defend every student’s right to a safe, equitable education.

The annual Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY) of Tennessee is 2.5 days of activities, discussions, speakers, and panels for 100 high school sophomores from around the state. They’ll learn about how to grow their personal, group, and service leadership, and then be charged to put that knowledge into action through a challenge of 100 service hours in their local community over the next year.

There are plenty of ways to get involved in the seminar! A group of 8-10 students is guided by a facilitator (21 years or older) and junior facilitator (18-21 year-old volunteer) through activities and small group discussions. Looking for more of a backstage role? We’ve got plenty of operation-based roles such as helping with check-in, the college fair, greeting speakers, setting up activities, and more.

Volunteers will arrive the evening of June 5th, with students arriving the morning of June 6th. By volunteering, we will house and feed you through the seminar. All volunteers must stay on-site for the entire seminar until June 8th at around 3:30 PM.

Any Questions? Please email us at hello@hobytn.org
