We are hosting online sessions for underrepresented young people to gain problem solving skills and build resilience; all while making cool games in Scratch or python!

We are looking for volunteers that want to support young people and give them the opportunity to discover and develop their digital talents. You don't have to be a code ninja; your expertise is in problem solving and mentoring young people.

We provide; nearly 100 project guides in Scratch and python; a secure learning environment on Google Workspace; a secure chat environment on slack; mutual support from other motivated volunteers; a clear and robust safeguarding framework.

You will need a current Enhanced DBS certificate (for our safeguarding of young people). We can help you secure a free DBS check through the national STEM Learning programme.

Mentors are needed during our build season each January through March at our shop located in Modesto, Ca. Students have 6 weeks to build a robot and need adults who work in engineering, programming, project management, CAD, and manufacturing fields to provide leadership and inspiration. The students have shop hours two evenings a week and all day Saturdays. Mentors can choose the times that work for them during these times.

Mentoring high school students is highly rewarding. The students come into the program with not much more than a desire to build a robot and learn how to follow a design process, work heavy machinery, complicated software, and most importantly how to be a part of a team.

If your skills match our needs, we would love to talk with you about becoming a mentor in our program.

My Money Workshop's financial education workshops are taught by volunteer instructors with a background in business, finance, education, money management, and/or economics.

My Money Workshop offers our volunteer instructors teaching opportunities within their local working area and/or close to their homes all over the New York Tri-State area. The commitment to volunteer is very manageable— 4 workshops per year. Opportunities to volunteer on a more frequent basis are also available. We are especially in need of instructors who are available to teach in-person virtually during the work day.

The length of workshops is based on particular school or program needs and typically ranges from 1 to 2 hours. The presentation and handout(s) are e-mailed to the client and instructor approximately one week before the scheduled workshop. The volunteer instructors provide a survey link to participants on the day of the workshop to access and complete pre- and post-surveys.
