Enterprise for Youth is seeking volunteers to conduct mock interviews with youth, ages 14-21, in our job readiness training workshop series. These practice interviews and assessments are essential components to preparing youth for Enterprise for Youth's paid internship program and work experiences later in life.

Volunteers conduct 1-on-1 mock interviews with two to three youth using a list of prepared questions. Volunteers will complete an evaluation form and offer feedback on what went well and what could be improved for next time and go over the feedback with the youth. There will be a 15-minute welcome before the interviews.

Enterprise for Youth has been a leader in youth workforce development in San Francisco since 1969. Providing paid internships and other employment opportunities for youth is the core of our work. We serve over 500 young people annually, supporting them during high school and into their post-secondary school lives through job readiness training, paid work experiences in a variety of fields, sector-based skills training opportunities, financial literacy, leadership pathways, and ongoing career development and networking support.

Job Readiness Training includes 20 hours of training, in English or Spanish cohorts, covering professional communication skills, teamwork, time management, financial literacy, and interview skills. Youth create résumés and cover letters and practice communication skills in a series of mock interviews with supportive volunteer interviewers. Job readiness training provides youth with practical job preparedness skills, as well as the soft skills critical to workplace success. Youth earn a $125 stipend for completing the training and are eligible for Enterprise paid work experience programs.

Opportunity Details

Le mentorat permet aux élèves de vivre un temps scolaire hors du commun en compagnie de professionnels. Les élèves sont suivis tout au long de l'année lors de temps individuels, par leur mentor. Les jeunes viendront au sein de l’entreprise John Deere.

L'objectif de ces rencontres renouvelées pour les élèves :

- Amener le jeune à prendre du recul et à se poser des questions sur son parcours.
- Lui apprendre à identifier et solliciter de l’aide selon ses besoins
- Développer sa confiance en soi et son savoir-être
- Apprendre à (re)valoriser son parcours via le regard du mentor.

En tant que mentor, vous serez amené à proposer un accompagnement personnalisé à l’élève mentoré pendant des temps dédiés qui se dérouleront au sein de votre entreprise.
Un entretien individuel en visio de 15 minutes, avec notre association partenaire, sera réalisé en en amont du lancement du mentorat afin d’identifier les besoins des élèves et créer les binômes de mentorat.

Cette mission de mentorat se déroulera sur trois séances :
- le 19 Mars 2024
- le 2 Avril 2024
- le 16 Avril 2024

La première séance sera composée d'un temps de rencontre et d’ice-breaker animé par l’association partenaire.
Les deux séances suivantes se dérouleront en deux temps :
- Temps d’ice-breaker (objectif du mois, débat mouvant) - 20 minutes
- Temps en binôme et travail sur les sujets des jeunes (scolarité, orientation, méthodologie) - 40 minutes

Un document de présentation du mentorat vous sera transmis et une formation collective 30 minutes sera organisée dans vos locaux ou en visio au choix. 3 créneaux de formation vous seront proposés ultérieurement.

At JA Finance Park presented by the USAA Foundation, each student becomes “an adult for the day” in an electronic simulation. The students are assigned a life scenario so they can experience firsthand the real-life challenges of making personal budgeting decisions. After calculating their net monthly income and savings goals, students visit kiosks that represent different budget categories such housing, health insurance, groceries, and utilities. Anyone with real world monthly budgeting experience can become a volunteer. JA Finance Park Volunteers play a key role by helping the students understand the concepts of personal financial planning and career exploration. Volunteers provide guidance and assistance while monitoring and verifying students’ work.

IMPORTANT NOTE FROM USAA CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY: USAA Serves system does not send cancellation notices to the junior achievement coordinator if you remove yourself from the event. Students are scheduled for this field trip based on the number of volunteers signed up to participate. It is extremely important that if you sign up, you show up. If for some reason after signing up, you are unable to attend, you must do the following:

Junior Achievement will need to work quickly to fill your spot so the students are taken care of. Our ultimate goal is to represent USAA’s brand well, be good corporate citizens and partners to our nonprofit community members, and most importantly be there for these students, many of whom are in economically disadvantaged areas. As a volunteer Mentor for young Women in STEM Careers, your primary role is to provide personalised guidance and support to young women interested in pursuing STEM fields. You will offer advice, share experiences, and assist them in navigating their career paths STEM.

The role of a #BeMedigitalinclusion Mentor is to provide group guidance and support to young women and girls from marginalised communities, helping them to develop confidence, skills, and a vision for a future in technology. Mentors play an essential part in nurturing the potential of these students by sharing their career insights, supporting goal setting, and fostering critical thinking. This mentorship is critical to bridging the digital skills gap and promoting diversity in tech, creating pathways for young women to excel in digital fields and develop skills that are relevant to today’s technology-driven world.

You will help to deliver our 12 weeks #BeMedigitalinclusion mentoring program to young women to help raise aspirations, develop key skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to succeed in STEM careers. Mentoring sessions will comprise 1-hour online sessions with small groups via Google meets or Zoom. Mentors will collaborate closely with Program coordinators, teachers’, other mentors, and the mentees themselves to ensure a supportive and enriching mentoring experience. Training and resources (mentoring presentations) will be provided.

Information on the 12-week mentoring programme:

1 mentor to 4/5 mentees
Ages 13 - 15 years (Year 9/ Year 10) female students
Between the hours of 8:30am - 4:30pm (school day hours)

- Teach computer skills to underprivileged children under the age of 14.
- Manage all activities related to the center according to instructions from the head office.
- Attract new children to the center for digital education.
- Monitor the progress of existing students and maintain an up-to-date database.
- The job requires a commitment from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is unpaid.
