We believe it's within our power to do something about the mental health, social and emotional wellbeing, and engagement of young Australians.Since 2008, Raise has delivered more than 1,000 early intervention youth mentoring programs across Australia. We’ve recruited, screened and trained over 8,800 volunteer mentors. Most importantly, we’ve been able to support more than 13,500 young people. We evaluate rigorously, listening and valuing the feedback from our young people, so we can continue to improve and deliver programs that achieve statistically significant outcomes.
Research shows that young people who are mentored have lower levels of depression, higher sense of wellbeing, know where to go for support and are more likely to find employment and their future path.
Teenage years are tough.
Suicide is one of the leading causes of death for young people
1 in 4 young people feel lonely all or most of the time.
1 in 12 are disengaged from education and work.
1 in 6 feel negative or very negative about the future.
We know we’re helping to build a generation of resilient, confident and hopeful individuals – the question is will you join us?
All they need is your time!
We recruit and train everyday people like you to become volunteer mentors working with young people in years 7-9 who would benefit most from a mentor. Through the one-to-one time with your mentee, you will see and feel the difference you make. As experts in our field, we’ll train you for success before placing you in one of the most respected youth mentoring programs in the country.
Becoming a mentor:
You will need 2 hours free to be available for mentoring, on the same day and time each week.
You will need to be available to mentor across 20 weeks from April - September during school term time.
You will make a lifetime of difference to your mentee, equipping them with tools they can use long into the future.
Causing a ripple effect...
Raise mentees aren't the only ones who get something out of our mentoring program. Our mentors consistently tell us how much they benefited from the experience. They are often pleasantly surprised by how applicable the skills they've learnt are to their daily lives.
After the program, 94% of Raise mentors told us that they are more comfortable checking in with young people in their own lives - and feel better equipped to support them. 96% of mentors indicated that their confidence to mentor significantly increased. For our corporate mentors, 94% told us that they learnt skills that they could apply in the workplace. These outcomes help contribute to our broader goal of creating thriving communities.
Become a youth mentor for 2026 by filling in the below application form on our website https://www.raise.org.au/volunteers/apply-to-become-a-youth-mentor/

Youth About Business teaches business to high school students through hosting a series of team-based Mergers and Acquisitions simulations. Over the course of a week, students will work in teams of 4-5 and assume the roles of the Executive Management of a public company to perform a M&A transaction. The camp is an intense competition. Many students have very limited exposure to the business world, but gain a great understanding through engaging with a series of speakers, volunteers, and advisors during their camp week.
To win the competition, students must submit a written shareholder report that outlines the details of their transactions.
Reading of Shareholder Reports (Self-Paced)
Volunteers are tasked with reading and scoring shareholder reports submitted from student teams. Each student team is tasked with summarizing their proposed M&A transactions as a report to their shareholders. Volunteers are asked to read a set of reports and assign each report a score based on a grading rubric.
Students will qualify for next rounds and awards based on the quality and scoring of their reports.
