BestPrep is looking for 30-40 business professionals in the Twin Cities metro area to host educators for a 3-hour job shadow experience at your workplace as part of BestPrep's Technology Integration Workshop (TIW). TIW is a four-day professional development opportunity for educators to enhance their curriculum with 21st-century technology skills and resources.

Business Partners can have a big impact, without needing to dedicate hours of time. The time commitment includes meeting your educator for a one-hour luncheon on Monday, July 30 at St. Thomas University Business School in downtown Minneapolis, and hosting your educator for the job shadow from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31.

As a volunteer Business Partner, you'll help an educator gain insight into the skills students will need to be successful in your industry. You'll also help familiarize educators with today’s business environment so they can better align their curriculum to your and your business’ needs. You do not have to have a technology-specific role to participate; any business professional willing to share insight into your industry, business environment and career path makes a great Business Partner.

The job shadow can include a tour of your workplace, inviting your educator to a team meeting, and discussion of the skills you use on a daily basis, the various projects you work on, the type of technology you use, and the training you may receive on the job.

Registration to participate as a Business Partner can be completed through the link included below. The registration deadline is July 15, however to ensure a great volunteer experience, we are asking anyone interested to register by July 1.

Make Music Day is a free outdoor musical festival that is held on June 21 in more than 750 cities in 120 countries. We invite musicians of all ages and skill levels to perform that day throughout Worcester parks and other venues. In addition to performances this year’s event includes creative programs which invite the community to participate in making music. These programs include drum circles, sing alongs, open mics, group music lessons, jam sessions and rap battles. Make music day will culminate with an evening concert on City Hall Common.

We need volunteers to make our fundraising event a success! Various roles and shifts needed.

The Silicon Valley Wine Auction will be a gathering for giving that will include some of the top Silicon Valley leaders as well as over 100 of the Santa Cruz Mountains' top wine growers. A portion of the proceeds from this event will directly benefit ALearn Silicon Valley Education Foundation's (ASVEF) programs for summer STEM education. You'll also be helping the Krause Center for Innovation and the Oxford Day Academy.

This will be a special event, and volunteers will need to dress appropriately. The attire for the guests is "wine-tasting casual." Volunteers will want to be presentable (business casual) at all times.

ALearn Silicon Valley Education Foundation (ASVEF) invites all corporate employees to lead a 60-minute STEM workshop for 6th–10th grade students in one of 100+ classrooms throughout the greater Bay Area this summer at our partner schools. This volunteer opportunity engages employees in supporting our community by simply talking about their college journey and leading a hands-on STEM activity. STEM Workshops can be led by groups of 2-5 employees or by individuals. ASVEF can provide simple ready-made STEM kits for you to use, or you can come with your own real-life project to share.

ASVEF will serve over 5,000 students this summer who need a boost in math to stay on a path to college. Most of our students are from underserved communities. ASVEF has classes in the counties of Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco, Alameda and even a few classes in Santa Cruz and the greater Monterey Bay. The STEM workshops provide students with an opportunity to engage in hands-on STEM-based projects and also to hear from professionals who value education and know the importance it plays in career.

The Early College High School Graduation Celebration is a project that PTSA sponsors to provide a safe and fun environment for our graduates to celebrate their high school graduation. PTSA fundraises to provide prizes, games and food for the celebration. Volunteers can help us set up the foods, maintain the food table and help with the distribution of prizes.
