We are a 501(c)3 Charitable Organization focused on creating a community where math is cool, helping students find their joy of math, and encouraging kids to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers. We do all of this by holding fun, social, team based math competitions. This isn't your typical classroom math. Our problems are challenging and expose students to new math ideas and concepts.
We emphasize continued learning and send participants home with solutions that will help them learn and grow in their math and problem solving skills.
We encourage students to solve problems in a way that make sense to them. There is no "right" or "wrong" way. There may be quicker or more elegant ways but that doesn't make one "right" and one "wrong."
We want students to see math as it is in the real world. Real world math involves working with others. As such, each of our contests has a team round where students work together. They can bounce ideas for how to solve the problems and check each other's work. This has two benefits: 1) students learn to show their work because it benefits them to do so, and 2) students learn to listen and work with their teammates to solve problems - just as they will in the real world.
So, come math with us and help us show kids how much fun math is!

At Capital One/ Junior Achievement Finance Park each student becomes “an adult for the day” in an electronic simulation. The students are assigned a life scenario so they can experience firsthand the real-life challenges of making personal budgeting decisions. After calculating their net monthly income and savings goals, students visit kiosks that represent different budget categories such housing, health insurance, groceries, and utilities. The Hillsborough Education Foundation is seeking mentors in Hillsborough County for the 2018-2019 school year. The Hillsborough Education Foundation provides scholarships and mentors for over 400 low-income students between 6th and 12th grade in the county through the Take Stock in Children program.Become a caring mentor for an at-risk youth and make a difference in a child's life today! Mentoring helps students succeed, achieve, and graduate from school. The role of a mentor is to provide a listening ear, valuable guidance, and academic assistance to help students experience greater success. Your guidance can help build a foundation of basic values and challenge students to take responsibility for their own actions. They can start to set goals and understand the importance of staying in school.
Volunteers must be able to meet weekly with the assigned student on school grounds during school hours (7:30am-3:00pm.)
As students begin to realize that someone cares, school absenteeism decreases, academic performance improves and self-esteem increases. Studies show that high-risk students with a mentor are: 46% more likely to stay drug-free 27% more likely to stay alcohol-free 62% more likely not to skip school 37% more likely to avoid violence.
