The goal of this activity is for people to support the computer science principles class in either a donation towards students AP Computer Science Principles Exams that they will be taking in May. Many students are not able to pay for the test, so the donations will help assist paying for students tests.

Volunteer Guidelines for Generating Audio Articles:

1) Sign Up & Notify Us:

2) Receive Pre-Selected STEM Articles:
Amrita-Seattle will provide volunteers with pre-selected STEM articles that have been summarized using AI to ensure clear, concise content and avoid any potential copyright issues.

3) Record the Article:
Volunteers will read the article aloud and record it using any audio recording device (phone, computer, etc.). Ensure that your recording is clear, with no background noise or interruptions.
We recommend reading the article a few times before recording to familiarize yourself with the content and improve your flow.
Make sure to speak clearly, slowly, and with energy to make the content engaging for the listeners.

4)Save & Send the Audio File:
Once you’ve completed the recording, save the file with the following format: FIRSTNAME_LASTNAME.
Email the final audio file as an attachment to: learnwithamrita@AmritaSeattle.onmicrosoft.com

5) Aim for Multiple Recordings:
We encourage each volunteer to record 3-4 articles to maximize the impact of your contribution. The more recordings you do, the more children will benefit from the knowledge you help bring to life!

Mentor: 1h 4-5 classroom sessions with pupils (online)

Support young innovators move forwards in their social innovation projects
During the Change Architects project, more precisely at levels 2 and 3, the students receive the support of the mentor who helps them find the answer to challenges they encounter in their projects. To be a good mentor you need to have confidence in children's ability to make a difference. From this experience you will be exposed to the design thinking method and you will discover change projects made by students. In this role you will be supported by our team and the teacher.
If you have passion, time, and drive to make a change - you have all it takes!

Time investment:
- Preparation time before each session: 15-30 min depending on your level of involvement.
- We will provide you with a guide detailing your activities in the classroom and detail all you need to do and know about how to engage with the kids.
- Actual time spent in front of the classroom (online): 4 meetings with an average of 45 minutes to an hour spent on each meeting (the meeting time is flexible and will be scheduled based on your availability and students)

- Classroom size: 20-30 pupils
- Grade: 1st to 8th (7-14 years old)
- Project team: a team is made up up students from the same grade

As an Ending the Silence Presenter, you will gain access to NAMI Trainings that will teach you valuable skills on presentations and public speaking. These skills are also applicable to everyday life. As an adult presenter, you will present to middle- and high-schoolers, and their parents and teachers, facts about mental health, how to get help, and how to talk about depression, anxiety, and suicide. Volunteering helps counteract the effects of stress, anger, and anxiety. The social contact aspect of helping and working with others can have a profound effect on your overall psychological well-being. The presentation and resources you provide can help to change the lives of teenagers in your community living with mental health.
$30 stipend included when requested.

Requirements: Adult, any age over 18; living with a mental health disorder OR have a family member living with a mental health disorder. No public speaking requirement, free training is included.

Kriti is an NGO working in the Film Nagar area slums for the last 15 years. Under Project Disha, our Scholarship program for the underprivileged, Kriti has provided scholarships for over 2500 children. Most of these children are in the first generation in their families to finish 10th grade. Their parents are mostly illiterate and unable to provide proper opportunities for their children. They are also unable to navigate the career options that could possibly open up for their children as they themselves are unaware.

Along with providing scholarships, Kriti has had an active mentoring program, Project Prerana, for the children.

The mentoring sessions are being planned as follows:
• Kriti will assign 2 volunteers for each group of 5-6 children.
• The mentors would be provided all the material for each of the sessions and orientation sessions will be conducted to understand the material
• There will be approximately 2 sessions per month, on Saturdays or Sundays based on mutual available time of the students and the mentors.
• Each session will be about 2 hours long.
• Online Sessions will be conducted on Google Meet, Zoom or similar platform.
• Offline sessions (Physical session) will be at Kriti's office
• Total number of sessions: 10-12 based on the age group
• Knowledge of Spoken languages: Hindi, Telugu or Tamil is required for these sessions.

Kriti will do its best to connect children based on language of familiarity of both children and Mentors.
• We request you to commit to the mentoring sessions for the entire year as children will only develop a bond with Mentors once they are familiar.
• Total commitment time per month is 30 hours over 7 months (includes session time and prep time).
• Physical Sessions will take place in Kriti's office in Shaikpet, Hyderabad.
• All Sessions will begin in late July 2023 and end in Feb 2024
