Volunteer with kids and see a professional show for FREE at Seattle Repertory Theatre!Seattle Repertory Theatre seeks volunteers to serve as theatre ushers for youths participating in the Rep’s Student Matinee program. Volunteer ushers must be comfortable directing large groups of 12- to 18-year-olds through our lobby and theatre spaces. This is a great way to witness firsthand the positive effects of arts engagement on middle- and high-school students. And as a special perk, ushers have the opportunity to see every show they volunteer for free of charge, with seven great titles and 11 Student Matinee performances during our 2018/19 season!
Volunteer shifts start at 9:30 a.m. and end around 1:00 p.m. depending on the duration of the show (if ushers are not staying for the performance, their shift will end at 10:30 a.m.). Approximately 3-4 ushers per show are needed, and we ask that volunteers sign up at least 4 weeks in advance. For more information or to sign up, please e-mail Arlene Martínez-Vázquez, Education Director at Seattle Rep, at arlene.martinez-vazquez@seattlerep.org.

Our job as a foundation has never been more vital - with a conservative estimation of over 35% of the US population affected by liver disease affecting everyone, including children. Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease/ Steatohepatitis is among the fastest growing pandemics we have seen. Please help us to continue our vital education and outreach efforts to make a difference to those affected by the more than 100 known forms of liver disease. The Desert Southwest Division of the American Liver Foundation is dedicated to our mission – to promote education, advocacy, support services and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease. With the support of donors like you, the American Liver Foundation was able to launch a National Patient Advisory Committee (NPAC), expand Support Services and Public Education through expanded national helpline hours and additional educational materials, and work on the Know Your Dose campaign whose goal is to educate the public about the safe use of medications that contain acetaminophen.
The Liver Life Walk Tucson & Celebration of Life is our opportunity to bring the community together for a day filled with entertainment, refreshments, and free health screenings. Local agencies working with families fighting against liver disease will be present to provide support and education.

We have received funding from The W. Garfield Weston Foundation and RBC to hold a Student Action Competition during spring 2020. This Student Action Competition will encourage Canadian students to conserve water, to encourage others to conserve water, to learn about where their drinking water comes from (only a little more than 50% of Canadians know where their drinking water comes from), teach other Canadians about the source of their drinking water, learn what could pollute their drinking water and teach others about this as well, and much more. The competition is open to all kindergarten to grade 12 schools across Canada. There will be one national grand prize valued at $3,000 for the top school in Canada in the kindergarten to grade eight category and one national grand prize valued at $3,000 for the top school in Canada in the grade nine to grade 12 category. Each national grand prize will include a water bottle filling station, a commemorative plaque, and possibly some reusable water bottles and/or water testing kits! There will also be a prize package for the top school in Saskatchewan. It is valued at $2,200 and includes a water bottle filling station and a commemorative plaque. (Note: If the top school(s) in Canada is/are located in Saskatchewan then the second or the third place school in Saskatchewan will win the prize package valued at $2,200.)We are looking for judges for the Spring 2020 Student Action on Canadian Water Attitudes Competition. The judging can be done from your own home, or anywhere you have Internet access. We would prefer that judges reside in Canada but would consider judges from other areas as well. This would require approximately two hours of your time and would take place in the first half of May.
