JA Finance Park® (JAFP) is a one-day volunteer opportunity with training included the morning of your day of service.

JAFP is an innovation in education designed to prepare youth for success in the adult world. Students will learn what’s possible for their future if they take control of their financial future. This program helps students build a foundation upon which they can make intelligent lifelong financial decisions, including those related to income, expenses, savings, and credit.

This learning experience combines in-class learning from the educator with JA curriculum and a field trip to work with volunteers from the business community at JA Finance Park held at ACC Highland Campus.

At JA Finance Park presented by the USAA Foundation, each student becomes “an adult for the day” in an electronic simulation. The students are assigned a life scenario so they can experience firsthand the real-life challenges of making personal budgeting decisions. After calculating their net monthly income and savings goals, students visit kiosks that represent different budget categories such housing, health insurance, groceries, and utilities. Anyone with real world monthly budgeting experience can become a volunteer. JA Finance Park Volunteers play a key role by helping the students understand the concepts of personal financial planning and career exploration. Volunteers provide guidance and assistance while monitoring and verifying students’ work.
New Feature! Submit pictures to this volunteer event through the USAA Serves Mobile App - Should you choose to upload pictures from your volunteer experience, you are consenting to the use of your pictures and image by USAA as we see fit, internally or externally. Further, if there are non-employees in the picture(s), you warrant that you are able to grant the same permissions to use on their behalf. For this event, do not take pictures of the students.

Don't have your Volunteer shirt or need a new one? Instructions to order your shirt are under Quick Links above.

Guess what!?! Your volunteer hours for this event will be tracked automatically within 3 days of the event.

IMPORTANT NOTE FROM USAA CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY: USAA Serves system does not send cancellation notices to the junior achievement coordinator if you remove yourself from the event. Students are scheduled for this field trip based on the number of volunteers signed up to participate. It is extremely important that if you sign up, you show up. If for some reason after signing up, you are unable to attend, you must do the following:
1. Notify martin Longoria at mlongoria@jast.org
2. Cancel your participation in USAA Serves so another USAAvolunteer can take your spot.
3. If your cancellation is within 7 days, you must call ja directly to notify at 210-490-2007 ext105 in addition to the steps outlined above.
Junior Achievement will need to work quickly to fill your spot so the students are taken care of. Our ultimate goal is to represent USAA’s brand well, be good corporate citizens and partners to our nonprofit community members, and most importantly be there for these students, many of whom are in economically disadvantaged areas. When we do not show, this makes the event very challenging for junior achievement, for the remaining volunteers, and for the students. Any questions about the policy above, contact usaaserves@usaa.com

Our Nonprofit Board Volunteer Mentorship Program is designed to provide mentorship and guidance to our board of directors in key areas such as strategic planning, donor relations, financial management, regulatory compliance, and best practices in nonprofit governance. We believe that members of successful nonprofit boards have valuable insights and experiences to share. Volunteers with expertise in board governance, fundraising, program development, and volunteer management can help us identify best practices and successful strategies for addressing common challenges in the nonprofit sector. By sharing their experiences and knowledge, volunteers can help us improve our organization and better serve our community. The mentorship can take place at our headquarters, where we have a conference room available for use, or online for those who prefer a virtual setting. Through our program, volunteers will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our organization and the communities we serve. We welcome volunteers from diverse backgrounds and experiences who are passionate about the nonprofit sector. Get in touch with us to learn more about how you can get involved.

JA Finance Park is a program for students in grades 7-12 that challenges students to apply the financial literacy concepts they learned in the classroom in a relevant and engaging simulation. Students adopt an adult persona (occupation, income, credit score, savings account, etc.) and create and manage a monthly budget that fits the wants and needs of that persona. Volunteers will guide small groups of students through the simulation and offer support, insight, and advice throughout the experience. Your guidance will make a lasting positive impact! A 1-hour volunteer training takes place the morning of each scheduled simulation.

Reality Check is a Financial Simulation for our seniors. Reality Check tries to mirror real-life scenarios to help students understand the financial realities they may face. During the simulation, each student chooses an occupation with a salary. They need to manage and make decisions on important life events such as buying a house, budgeting for food, paying for insurance, buying a vehicle, and paying off any debts, such as student loans. We are looking for volunteers to run a clothing station by providing examples for students to 'purchase' during this simulation.

UPchieve has a wonderful opportunity for you to support low-income students on your own time! You don't need previous tutoring experience. We'll provide all the resources you need to succeed! Visit www.upchieve.org/volunteer to sign-up

Did you know that only 9% of low-income students obtain their Bachelor's Degree by age 24?

At UPchieve we believe that every student should have access to the high-quality academic support they need to succeed. That's why we've created a free online platform for 24/7 tutoring and college counseling to help low-income students in the U.S. Using our website or mobile app students can request an Academic Coach and get help paired with a live volunteer tutor. There are over 20 subjects on the platform ranging from Math to Science, Reading & Writing, and U.S. History.

As a volunteer...

- You’ll work directly with motivated students who can’t afford private tutoring and often don’t have anyone to turn to for help.
- You can tutor from anywhere with an internet connection.
- You'll have complete control over your volunteer schedule. There are no shifts. Select your availability from a 24/7 calendar.
- You'll help the student improve their understanding and solve problems.
- You choose the subjects you want to tutor.

Here is what students are saying about their tutors:

- I LOVE UPCHIEVE!!! It has helped me very much with my Algebra 2 homework!! :)
