The Outdoor Education Volunteer will be dedicated to engaging youth within the San Diego River watershed, with the purpose of teaching kids the importance and value of our local ecosystem through hands-on, citizen science projects. This person will help to set up for events and stay at the meet-up location to watch the tables, tent, and others' belongings. They will also help break down the event at the end. If you would like to be more hands-on, you can also help the children participate in learning activities. These include plant, animal and insect identification, field studies and guided hikes! You are not expected to know how to do these things beforehand. Must be 18 years or older.Time Commitment: Field trips meet on the following weekday mornings: Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, 8:30am - 12pm. Field trips are usually held in Ocean Beach, Mission Valley Preserve, or Mission Trails Regional Park.

Impact & goal of Solve Education! Foundation:Solve Education! Foundation works hard to enable people to empower themselves through education by providing access to interactive, personalized, and accessible learning platforms, namely Ed the Learning Bot, especially for marginalized communities. As of May 2024, Solve Education! Foundation has reached over 750,000 learners around the world with more than 22 million exercises completed.
This volunteering program offers a transformative experience by connecting our learners with native English speakers in monthly workshop, fostering not only language skills but also cross-cultural understanding. This program empowers participants to navigate and succeed in a globalized world by enhancing their English proficiency and confidence through practical, real-world interaction. Participants engage with our learning platform, Ed the Learning Bot, where they can explore various subjects and earn points. Once they accumulate the required points, they register for the session and upload their points for verification, ensuring their commitment to learning. Our goal is to equip learners with the skills and confidence to speak and interact in English, enhancing both their personal and professional growth.
Main tasks:
As a volunteer you will be expected to:
- Facilitate interactive activities and discussions to practice English language skills
- Provide feedback and encouragement to learners to boost their confidence
Time zone:
This activity is set in the following time zone: GMT+7 (Jakarta Time)
Duration and frequency (can be adjusted based on the availability of the volunteer)
- Duration of session: 2 hours
- Frequency: 1 session per month with 5 to 10 volunteers/speakers per workshop
- Length of commitment: Minimum 1 day per workshop for all volunteers/speakers
- Availability: Evergreen; sessions are available year-round
Agenda:
The rough agenda of the activity will be as follows:
- 10 minutes for opening and introduction of the volunteers/speakers
- 5 minutes for distribution into breakout rooms
- 60 minutes for interactive speaking sessions with volunteers/speakers in breakout rooms
- 5 minutes for participants to reconvene in the main room
- 10 minutes for a sharing session for participant feedback and testimonials

About Pandemic Professors:
Pandemic Professors is a nonprofit organization that offers free tutoring and mentorship to underserved students in low-income communities. The service was created to bridge the education gap caused by e-learning and the pandemic. Our organization is 100% volunteer run and has no paid opportunities.
Main Goal: Ensure that tutor-student pairs are successfully holding sessions and use immediate action to address any issues that may come up.

You Will:
-Communicate with families/students and tutors to ensure a successful relationship.
-Use problem-solving skills to resolve any issues involved with tutor-student pairings.
-Be mindful and considerate while working with families and tutors. Maintain excellent customer service when communicating with anyone.
-Decide when to retire pairs and re-pair the tutor or student, if necessary. Assist with tutor/students exit as well.
-Maintain detailed data entry while also acting conscientiously. Follow data security protocols to protect and correctly relay this information to the research teams.
-Support fellow team members when needed and maintain communication to minimize confusion and overlap.
-Work across Tutor Success, Student Success, and scheduling teams to identify and address tutor-student pairing issues.
-Assist with other pairing projects as needed.

#twitterforgoodVolunteers will assist #ICANHELP’s marketing team with campaigns for Digital4Good, our annual summit. Digital4Good celebrates ten outstanding students who are using digital media and technology to advance social, economic, environmental, and educational causes. We’re looking for volunteers to create press releases to spread awareness of the event and the incredible work that these student innovators have done to make a positive impact in their communities. We’re shining a spotlight on student innovation and leadership to show the world just what kids and teens can do with the right tools, education, and encouragement.
Volunteers will also help our Trust and Safety Team develop content for our Social Media Emergency Plan as part of our Digital First Responder Training program, which teaches educators and student leaders how to train and inspire others to take action when they see something harmful online.

Chicas en Tecnología will carry out in May 2022 its Clubs program for 250 young women from Argentina. It is an educational digital proposal to motivate and train the next generation of women innovators in technology. The participants go through 5 axes of work: Identification, Ideation, Design and Prototyping, Programming and Communication, that seek to motivate them to go from being users to creators of technology with social impact. At the end of the course, the participants will have developed a technological solution prototype (app).The advice of Motorola Solutions employees will be included in the program to mentor, coach and give feedback to the participant young women, as part of their team to guide, inspire and motivate them in the development of their ideas, answer questions and broaden their horizon to create their technological solution. Volunteers must speak Spanish. No technical skills are required (however, knowledge in programming, agile methodologies, PM, PO and data is desirable) . All activities will be moderated by the team of Chicas en Tecnología.
Through mentoring, a connection is generated with professionals and leaders from tech sector who share their experience to inspire the next generations of women to grow and develop. It is an effective support system to overcome obstacles to professional growth faced by women.

Volunteers are invited to our 5th Annual JCH Foundation Fundraiser.The JCH Foundation hosts an annual fundraiser and community members are welcome to come enjoy special events including dinner, cornhole, face painting, inflatables, balloon artist, basket raffle, 50/50 tickets, door prizes, facility open house, and more!
We use the donations to create ‘John’s Safe Place’ rooms in local schools, provide seminars about mental health awareness for educators, and award scholarships to deserving individual students who emulate John and the loves of the many he touched.
