In Silicon Valley, Latinos make up 25% of the population, but only 3% of the high-tech workforce (Baron, 2012). Latina women number even fewer in high-tech fields. The underrepresentation of women, Latinos and other minority groups in STEM represents a waste of talent. As a leader in technology and innovation, Silicon Valley’s competitive edge is dependent on a highly educated workforce, but the unfortunate reality is that we lack a robust pipeline of homegrown candidates. Breakthrough Silicon Valley addresses this critical need. We expand the pool of highly skilled professionals and develop leaders who reflect the changing demographics of our region.

Silicon Valley Children's Fund (SVCF) and TeenForce are 501(c)(3) nonprofits that are committed to improving the educational, career and life outcomes of foster youth in Silicon Valley. Our education and employment pathways provide ten years of support to foster youth, ultimately helping them achieve self-reliance. Currently, less than 50% of foster youth graduate high school whereas SVCF scholars have an 83% graduation rate. Our scholars are 10x more likely to graduate from college, compared to only 3% of foster youth nationally. In partnership with Table-for-Three, SVCF is co-hosting our 2nd Annual STAR Chefs Event. Proceeds from the event will support SVCF and TeenForce programs that provide support to local foster youth.
STAR Chefs is a unique opportunity to sample pairings from some of the Bay Area’s BEST chefs, some of which are from Michelin rated restaurants, all under one roof at Forager (Downtown San Jose). We are expecting over a dozen local chefs from some of the Bay Area’s best restaurants including the renown Manresa and Chez TJ.

(more info about Glicode here : http://cp.glico.jp/glicode/ )
This workshop we do is a very important opportunity for kids in Osaka because in the Osaka(Kansai) area programing education is not enough than other big cities like Tokyo and Fukuoka. So, to make our workshop sustainable we are doing this workshop with Google.
