Chicas en Tecnología will carry out in May 2022 its Clubs program for 250 young women from Argentina. It is an educational digital proposal to motivate and train the next generation of women innovators in technology. The participants go through 5 axes of work: Identification, Ideation, Design and Prototyping, Programming and Communication, that seek to motivate them to go from being users to creators of technology with social impact. At the end of the course, the participants will have developed a technological solution prototype (app).

The advice of Motorola Solutions employees will be included in the program to mentor, coach and give feedback to the participant young women, as part of their team to guide, inspire and motivate them in the development of their ideas, answer questions and broaden their horizon to create their technological solution. Volunteers must speak Spanish. No technical skills are required (however, knowledge in programming, agile methodologies, PM, PO and data is desirable) . All activities will be moderated by the team of Chicas en Tecnología.

Through mentoring, a connection is generated with professionals and leaders from tech sector who share their experience to inspire the next generations of women to grow and develop. It is an effective support system to overcome obstacles to professional growth faced by women.

Volunteers are invited to our 5th Annual JCH Foundation Fundraiser.
The JCH Foundation hosts an annual fundraiser and community members are welcome to come enjoy special events including dinner, cornhole, face painting, inflatables, balloon artist, basket raffle, 50/50 tickets, door prizes, facility open house, and more!

We use the donations to create ‘John’s Safe Place’ rooms in local schools, provide seminars about mental health awareness for educators, and award scholarships to deserving individual students who emulate John and the loves of the many he touched.

Come on out and help us serve spaghetti dinners as a fundraiser for the band programs at Plainfield Central High School, Indian Trail Middle School, and Timber Ridge Middle School. Drumapalooza is an annual fundraising event for our percussion students! Please join us for a celebration of all things percussion! We would love your help in assisting budding students learn about drums, direct people where to go, check for tickets, and sell baked goods!


Students from throughout District 202 will perform a variety of high-energy percussion pieces, drumline music, solos, and percussive comedy!

We'll also be hosting a Percussion Petting Zoo from 5:30-6:30 PM before the concert! Kids and adults of all ages are welcome to come in and play the percussion instruments with the help of some PCHS Percussionists! Play the instruments, talk to the directors and performers, and take a look around before the concert!

Opportunity Details

The intent of Linn Mar Post Prom is to keep students safe on prom night by providing a safe, alcohol and drug free event immediately following prom. Students must arrive shortly after prom ends and are not allowed to leave and re-enter the building. We provide food, fun games, and activities, such as a hypnotist. In addition, grand prizes are awarded at the end of the night and students must be present to win. This encourages students to attend and remain at post prom until the morning, after which they can return home safely.

Post prom is entirely funded through business and parent donations. All senior students are invited to attend, whether or not they attend prom. Many students decide to forgo prom, which is often expensive, and choose to attend post prom.

We are exited to have post prom in person again this year and the students are thrilled as well! We hare hoping that Kohls employees will choose to volunteer on the day of the event with set up during the day or at the event in the evening.

Opportunity Details

BYOC needs a marketing team to promote the work we do broadly across the Greater Cincinnati community. BYOC needs photographers, videographers, social media marketers and grass roots marketers.

BYOC has worked with over 500 youth since 2014 but is still unknown to many. We need to increase our presence in the community which will help us reach more youth and build our donor and grant base.

BYOC worked with 127 youth during 2022 and having a team of marketing volunteers can help spread the word at events and venues on a much larger scale than is done today. BYOC held its first summit (Youth Tech Explosion) for youth and their parents in December 2022 with 100 people in attendance. BYOC is having an positive impact on the community with limited funds and resources. Increasing those funds and resources will allow us to have a much bigger impact on underserved youth. To do that we need to raise funds for more scholarships and a larger staff. This marketing team will be key in achieving that.

KOHL'S Employees and Bryan Middle School students and staff will have the opportunity to perform trail maintenance in Fontenelle Forest on Saturday, April 23 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Hours are flexible! Come one come all!

More Details:
On April 23, we will be spending concentrated time and effort in mulching and generally cleaning up Acorn Acres inside the First Loop of our boardwalk. We will have a variety of activities to work on for this day, including moving/spreading mulch and removing the pond area, as well as doing some general clean-up and maintenance around the area. We will be primarily using hand tools, wheel barrows.

Children are welcome! For any individual under 18, we require a parent to sign the paperwork. For anyone under 16, they must be accompanied by a responsible adult who has also registered.

This month, we ask that you bring work gloves – gardening or leather gloves work well. We require close-toe shoes and please dress to be outside. We recommend long pants and long sleeves no matter the weather, to protect against insects and plant material. Layers are an excellent idea! Also, please bring your own drinking water, bug spray and sunscreen. However, we will be near the Nature Center to refill water bottles. Masks are optional.

The Alsama Excellence Fund aspires to give stars a chance to shine – a chance they would not otherwise have. We select the most exceptionally talented refugee students of Alsama teenage education institutes in Lebanon and sponsor them to pursue secondary & higher education at internationally-recognised English-speaking schools, colleges, and universities.

Alsama’s Excellence Programme is a rigorous curriculum designed to prepare students to be accepted into top English-speaking secondary schools in Lebanon, and internationally. Students receive classes in Maths, Arabic and English - receiving a total of 15 hours of English per week to boost English proficiency. Critical thinking forms the foundation of the programme which seeks to turn students into independent thinkers capable of tackling any problem head-on.

The students will soon be taking entrance exams in order to be accepted into secondary schools. They require English-speaking interview practice in order to grow in confidence and develop interview strategies which will help them to fulfil their potential in an interview setting.

This volunteering opportunity will consist of mock interview practice and a short feedback session afterwards.

We are gathering community's help with funds for flights and first few months of living expenses, place to stay, volunteer tutors, translators (Ukrainian and Russian speakers), volunteers to help with transportation.

1. Preventing sexual assault through education and community awareness.
2. Providing peer support to survivors of sexual assault.
3. Promoting physical, mental and emotional well-being through holistic healing practices.

As an incorporated (charitable) society in Alberta, STAND ASA aims to create a safer and more just society for all. The 3P is our path forward. Positive, fair minded change and the evolution of hearts and minds surrounding all aspects of sexual violence is a journey. The destination we seek can only be achieved through individual personal changes in attitudes, thoughts, feelings and actions if we are to achieve behaviour change at a societal level. This is where you come in.

As a volunteer with STAND ASA, you are a role-model and an advocate for the kinds of attitudes, thoughts, feelings and actions that further the cause of preventing sexual assault and supporting survivors. This is the soul of why STAND ASA exists. It is an important responsibility. As a volunteer you will be joining hundreds of others within the Calgary and area communities who are committed to ending gender-based violence, in all its forms.

The Service Centric Approach
The STAND ASA culture is synonymous with service centricity. The service centric approach means that we are always thinking about the “what” and “how” of the service user experience be it co-worker, service user or the public.

Our primary focus is service users. Our definition of service users includes volunteers, visitors, guests, donors, vendors, suppliers and even co-workers as internal service users. Being service centric literally means that we put our service users at the heart and forefront of our service planning and decision making. This effort is a deliberate attempt to focus on the service users wants, needs and expectations. In this way, service improvements become the same as being able to anticipate and respond to the relevant service needs of our users.

 

Volunteer Requirements
There are certain minimum requirements for being a volunteer with STAND ASA. At present, we have two (2) categories of volunteers:

1. Activity Volunteers (AV)
2. Service Volunteers (SV)

Activity Volunteers (AV)
Activity Volunteers contributes to or participates in a variety of STAND ASA sponsored activities and events doing a variety of helpful things (tasks and activities) to move projects forward under the direction and supervision of a Volunteer Lead.

Service Volunteer (SV)
Service Volunteers serve in positions requiring high dependability, trust and confidentiality. SVs are required to successfully complete specific STAND ASA training and make a minimum commitment to their volunteer service time – a minimum of one (1) year of service.
