We are looking volunteers who loves environment to come and help us in participating our environmental activities with our students. Trees provide oxygen and store carbon. They give humans fuel, food, medicine, building materials, lungs of our planet, and more. And they shelter animals and anchor the soil. you can join us and participate in any of the following activities;
- Growing bean sprouts in snack bags with wet paper towels
- Setting up a full-fledged school garden
- Planting trees around with our students

We know that children learn through play, and learning to be more sustainable and caring for the environment follows that same trend. Volunteers helps us to come up with a free nature scavenger hunt grid, and turn recess into an adventure in connecting with the environment
You will be giving talks about water waste early in the school year, and add visual reminders to ensure students tighten the faucets went they’re done washing their hands. Talk to the janitorial team about posting similar reminders in the school bathrooms so everyone can do their part to help the environment at our schools

These programs need Volunteers that are good and passionate about cooking and baking to cook for our kids in school. Our kids love delicious food cooked by our volunteers. We also have cooking and baking clubs for kids, Baking clubs in Schools and Universities. This allows our marginalized students and women as one of their life skills. Some of the areas we train them to include are as follows;
- Making ( Cake, Bread, soups, Cheese Pastry, Ice cream, Creaming methods, sponge cake, etc.)
- General food hygiene
- Food allergies, visible and non-visible symptoms
- Vegetable cuts
- Importance of nutrition when planning meals (Protein, Fat, Carbohydrates, Vitamins, Minerals, Dietary fiber, Water, etc.)
- Planning meals for children and adult
- Cooking techniques
- Menu planning
- Vegetarian or Vega dishes

March 4 Earth is seeking an volunteer with a passion for educating others about sustainability to develop a page of evidence based website content to support our "Actions for Earth", across the themes of Energy, Waste, Transport, Food, Nature and Clothing. This would support our yearly campaign and educate users and March 4 Earth participants, to learn more about sustainability and how the actions they take can reduce their carbon footprint.

The team will support with copy writing the content development.

Opportunity Details

Global Action Plan operates two community gardens in the Dublin area. They serve the local communities, both as a centre for environmental education and as a hub for social inclusion initiatives.

Our Green Living and Sustainability (GLAS) Community Garden in Ballymun has been serving the community for over a decade; our new GLAS @ TU Dublin garden was opened in May 2023.

Both gardens provides an outdoor environmental education space which is open to schools and community groups in the local areas - communities that have experience with deprivation and disadvantage.

To keep the gardens open and accessible, and keep the workshops running, we appreciate and welcome anyone who would like to volunteer. And with our gardeners Sharon and Lee on hand to advise and help you, you can learn new skills and grow your own fruits and vegetables too.

Volunteering in the GLAS community gardens is an excellent team building opportunity, and a chance for your company to support a valuable resource in two of Dublin's disadvantaged areas.

60 youth ages 3-18 living in foster care will be paired with surf mentors to gain an introduction to surfing and engage in an educational themed surf camp, (topics vary by date). Volunteers are needed in a variety of areas including registration, food distribution, wetsuits, in-water surfing, sand castle building, volleyball and recreation, set-up and load-out.

The purpose of our Ambassador's Program is to let your online network (social media friends, family, peers, colleagues, neighbors) know that you've signed on to raise funds for a cause near and dear to your heart and that you need their help. Basically, you've got to get the word out to everyone you know to help you reach your fundraising goals. The goal is to share, share, share!

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve in Costa Rica of the Tropical Science Center was established in 1972 as one of the first private areas for biodiversity conservation in Costa Rica. It is dedicated to conservation, research, and environmental education. Over the years, the Preserve has grown from 810 acres (328 ha) to over 10,193 acres (4,125 ha) and encompasses four life zones. Two percent of the total area is open to the public, while the rest is dedicated to conservation purposes.

To give you an idea of its importance on our planet, the Monteverde Preserve holds 2.5% of the world's biodiversity and hosts an astounding 50% of the species found in Costa Rica. More than 126 species of mammals, 448 species of birds, 60 species of amphibians, and 101 species of reptiles live here. It is one of the few remaining habitats in Costa Rica that supports all six feline species — jaguars, ocelots, pumas, oncillas, margays, and jaguarundis — in addition to endangered avian species like the three-wattled bellbird and resplendent quetzal. This protected cloud forest also provides numerous benefits to people, including pure air and clean water.

For over 30 years, the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve’s Environmental Education Program has taught thousands of students to respect and appreciate our natural environment and resources. Through hands-on activities, these kids learn actions to safeguard our planet for the future. They grow up to be business owners, teachers, government leaders, and decision-makers with conservation mindsets. It is a model program for environmental education worldwide.

Income generated from tourists' visits to the Preserve fully funds the Environmental Education Program. Before 2020, this income easily covered the program's expenses. Unfortunately, the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic significantly reduced tourism since March 2020, which has depleted financial resources. We urgently seek funding to continue our vital education and conservation programs. Through donations from folks like you, we hope to raise $150,000 in 2021-2022 to continue our essential environmental education workshops, citizen science projects, and educational tours to the cloud forest.
