The Annual Spring Clean Up at Camp Zanika Lache is Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. We are in need of volunteers that can help us get ready for summer camp. We have lots to do, such as get the archery range ready, the boats taken out of storage, clean the Kiwanis lodge, put up the wall tents, clean the kitchen, help prepare lunch, chop up firewood, gather debris, burn debris, rake leaves, and have fun at the same time.Bring your gloves, rakes, chainsaws, loppers, and anything you think will come in handy!
Lunch will be provided! Dinner is provided Saturday night for anyone who spends the night on Saturday.
Volunteering at Camp Zanika is important because it allows us to keep our registration fees down and at the same time offer camp scholarships, or camperships, to kids that would not otherwise be able to afford to come and enjoy all that camp has to offer.
Lodging is available for anyone who would like to come up and spend the night on Friday night or stay Saturday night.
Projects include:
Re-staining kayak rack, fixing screen doors, repairing windows, clearing the archery field,
Installing bathroom partitions
Raking leaves (we did not get a chance to rake in the fall)
Split some wood (we will get the log splitter)
Fix our trails (we have some roots to cover up with dirt to prevent the kids from tripping)
Fixing some cabin stairs
Putting down new flooring in the director's cabin
Putting in a tub surround and new sink in the nurse’s cabin, so they have a shower.
Putting up the GaGa pit
Cleaning up the Challenge course area and if we have some extra money putting in a
new element to the course
Putting in the wood stove pipe in the camp director’s cabin
Donations are also accepted if you cannot come.

Milwaukee Parks Foundation is seeking thought leaders to help with answering the question: How do we measure the impact of parks? We all know parks have a profound impact on our lives, especially in the last few years when outdoor activities have been the safest way to interact with our loved ones. But how can we use quantitative and/or qualitative data to measure our parks? How do we tell the story of just how much our parks mean to us? Through workgroups and design thinking, we hope to come up with a new way to measure the impact of parks.
