Altiorem is an online library and resource centre for those wanting to influence the finance and investment industry towards the sustainable and purposeful allocation of capital. 

The finance industry plays a powerful role in the global economy through the allocation of financial capital and by exercising ownership rights. Altiorem helps its members build the ethical, business, investment and economic case for a sustainable finance industry and implement the changes needed to bring it about. 

In order to build Altiorem we require a community of volunteers to develop and curate the content.

You will:

- play a critical role in shaping the library by curating and prioritising content for publication,

- mentor our contributors, typically university students, through to publication of their research summaries and organisational profiles,

- add value to your career by expanding your knowledge of the major social and environmental challenges the world faces and their relevance to business and finance,

- have your work recognised and build your professional profile through by-lines for each summary completed and a volunteer profile page.

- work in a dynamic start-up enterprise which has exposure to leaders in sustainable finance, and

- make a positive impact with a purpose-led organisation.

You will be asked to:

- Complete one research summary to gain the perspective of Altiorem’s contributors and learn the system,

- prioritise research ready for contributors to summarise for publication,

- review and provide feedback on contributor drafted summaries to ensure they meet Altiorem’s quality standards ahead of publication, and

- engage with the Altiorem community to develop and improve the standards and quality of the library.

Topics are extremely diverse covering everything from climate change and human rights to the financial performance of more sustainable companies.

The Altiorem platform and workflow is cloud-based and flexible. You will be expected to complete research summary reviews within two weeks of starting them and can work on up to two at a time. Research summaries can take between two and four hours to review depending on the length and complexity of the research and the number of iterations required.

During summer programming our Clubs plan field trips to give kiddos an opportunity to get out and do fun things in the community while learning new things. Our chaperones are vital to our trips because they are not only a safe and responsible adult to help supervise the trip, but they get to be role models and teach the kids something new along the way.

We are heading to Heckrodt Nature Center from our Menasha Club by bus to explore the various different natural habitats and the animals that might live in them!

With a limited staff component, SANCCOB relies heavily on the support of volunteers to achieve the mission of the organisation. Volunteers become an extension of the staff and are an integral part of the daily running of the centres. Not only do volunteers assist with the hands-on work with the seabirds, but also provide assistance in all functions of the centre such as marketing, procurement and fundraising. In short, we need volunteers like YOU to join our team!

We will again be working to clean up a community green space on Bridgeport's East Side by removing litter and invasive plants!

Located next to Luis Munoz Marin Elementary School, this site was originally designed as a public space and butterfly garden that would serve as an outdoor classroom for the students and a green getaway for local residents. Over the years the site has been overtaken by invasive plants, litter, and a fallen tree, but we are working to revitalize the space so that local students and residents can enjoy it again. We will be planting native shrubs and wildflowers there in the fall, but first we'll be working there over the summer to clean it up and prepare for the planting.

The site is located at 553 Helen St., Bridgeport, CT 06608, and there is parking available on Helen St. or in the lot behind Luis Munoz Marin Elementary off of Boston Ave.

We will provide gloves, trash bags and grabbers, gardening tools, and some refreshments, so you don't need to bring anything but some sturdy shoes and clothes that can get dirty.
