Become a mentor for children across the globe! This is an incredible way to give service online, especially since most of the world's schools are still closed due to COVId-19, and this is the only educational resource these kids will have. It’s super easy to get to started (check out our website), and it’s fun to get connected and help mentor these children. Once you are paired with a child, your sessions only take 30 minutes a week, and our fun interactive training sessions will help you be successful.
Books open children’s minds to a world of possibilities and give them the tools they need to dream bigger. And you can inspire that within them through mentoring!

Opportunities:1. Use your editorial skills to curate a narrative from a veteran’s story of service to compile into a one-of-a-kind legacy book.
2. Read a story on our Legacy Listing webpage and draft a brief reaction piece for our newsletter.
3. Write a creative short article that nests with our commitment to honor service, capture lessons learned, and confront life’s challenges-together.
Using The American Legacy Project’s software, our editorial staff works closely with the interview team and design team to build our flagship Physical Legacy Books. Whether you donate a few hours or join our committed team, we are glad to work with you!
What We Do:
At The American Legacy Project, we conduct interviews with veterans and their families to capture their stories of service and lessons learned. We take these interviews and veteran-submitted photos to curate custom Physical Legacy Books for the veteran. Pending veteran approval, we share portions of their narrative and select photos on our Legacy Listing webpage!

The Club is expecting to stay open, even if the Camden School District goes to Virtual Learning, therefore we will need to replenish the school supplies we distributed to families on March 17th when we went to our Stay At Home Order. Since then, we distributed all our games, books, toys and have done numerous food distributions and provided much needed cleaning supplies to a dozen families in severe need. We will be doing a Shoe Drive Fundraiser, so collecting new and gently used shoes would be extremely helpful. If we can have someone help coordinate and get the word out that would be ideal. We need more cleaning supplies to give to our needy families. Making cards and encouraging pictures/messages for the children & families about wearing masks, washing hands and social distancing is really important! Please help us slow the spread of COVID-19 and fill the needs in Camden. Thank you!Available Shifts

Kaiser Omari Foundation; a registered non-profit organization in Accra with the mission of breaking barriers created by languages and also promote art among the youth and the children from the deprived backgrounds and contributing to developing world-class education for children in Ghana through the teaching of art and international languages (Spanish,French,German). Our goal is to help the less deprived children develop into global citizens and encourage them to look beyond their culture and recognize the incredible opportunities that are created by diversity and the richness of culture that is there across the world. The world is becoming increasingly inter-connected and it is important for young people to understand that they are an important part of the global community and learn to be able to engage in communication with people from different cultures. Knowing another language gives you instant access to another culture and you can easily make contact with someone in a different country if you speak their language. It enables you to become open -minded to different opinions, people and cultures. Most importantly, it will give children more choices when it comes to choosing further education. They will be free to choose which university they want to apply for, in which country depending on the language they speak. It will also be easier for them to participate in semesters abroad or an exchange program where they can study in another country. The ability to speak a foreign language is rated as an important skill in the world of work. Generally, people who are able to communicate in different languages have more advantages in life

Our interviewers work directly with veterans and help them tell their stories, all while drawing out their important life lessons. This role puts you at the forefront of The Project's vital work. You will have the opportunity to experience, first-hand, the catharsis that occurs as veterans and their loved ones tell their stories and understand their experiences. You will surely develop a new perspective and build deeper interpersonal understanding as you conduct these interviews.Interviewers do not need any previous experience to get involved. We require a simple willingness to talk openly and listen empathetically! Interviewers can conduct one interview or continue them on a recurring basis. We offer personalized guidance to each volunteer to help them prepare for this role. We ensure that our volunteers are ready to interact with and serve veterans. We encourage interviewers to seek out veterans they know personally. Though if you do not know a veteran or service member, we can connect you with someone who wants to tell their story.
Each interview lasts roughly 90 minutes and interviewers can complete them in person or remotely via a platform such as Zoom. Join The American Legacy Project today!
