Parents as Teachers will train pre-k families how to help their children prepare for pre-k over the summer months. Parents will learn skills children need upon entering pre-k and strategies to use over summer months to work on and enhance skills. Each family will get supplies and manipulatives to use during the summer months to enhance learning opportunities.

Families 4 His Glory, Inc. provides educational services including reading intervention and tutoring to students with special needs, homeschool evaluations, and education consultations. We use community outreach to promote diversity and inclusion through community outreach. We connect families to needed resources. We are seeking co-laborers to assist with strategic planning and growth activities for a small non-profit.

Opportunity Details

A fundraising dinner with dancing and desserts to support our reading program. We will recognize the students and community contributors. The reading program helps special needs students in grades 3-12 learn to read at grade level.

Read with Me:
On most days we need 6 -15 volunteers to visit our Books for Kids Libraries (located at both sites) and read to our students, ages 6 weeks -5 years old. Your time with us is incredibly important, not only to building our children’s language and literacy skills, but to supporting the Books for Kids Programming.
Programming takes place Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 8:45am-11am at 29th st, and Tuesday through Thursday mornings from 8:45am-11am at our Capitol Drive location.

Group Sign Up: When registering a group for a Read with Me opportunity, we ask that you assist with a maximum of half the total slots.

Age Requirements: We welcome anyone 4th grade and up to volunteer with us! Anyone under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.

This family friendly event is being provided by Lamar County School District's Parents as Teachers program to the families enrolled in our program. This event will allow parents and their children to come together for an enriching literacy event as we plan to read an Easter story and do arts and crafts as it relates to Easter. We would like to extend an invitation for your organization to read books for several classrooms of children and in the learning library. Please contact us to arrange a date/time for your participation. In return, we will provide the required background check link for visitors into a Klein ISD campus.

On Wednesday, April 17th, Arts For All is inviting Kohl’s Volunteers to join our Literacy Through the Arts program at PS15 in the Lower East Side! Kohl’s volunteers will work with Teaching Artists and students in First Grade to make paper bag puppets. In Second Grade, volunteers will help students create crafts about The Princess and the Pea. This is a great way to lend a hand in a big, busy day for AFA Teaching Artists as they work with students to help build skills in reading, writing, and verbal expression using an accessible and fun multi-arts curriculum!

Arts For All is an arts education organization that offers accessible artistic opportunities to children in the New York City area who face socio-economic, physical, or emotional barriers to exploring the arts. Through Arts For All (AFA), professional artists work with youth organizations to build AFA Core Values: Self-Confidence, Self-Expression, Teamwork, Resilience, and Creativity.
