About G.R.O.W
Growing Real Opportunities in the Workforce (G.R.O.W.) trains educators to empower their students to align who they are with what they want to do. GROW's curriculum does this by taking students through a fluid process of self-awareness, exploration of careers and the tools for students to be able to achieve their goals. Research has shown that programs that focus on career education and strengths-based self-assessment can help prevent dropouts and increase students’ academic performance. We reach youth at a critical time in their development, embed confidence in their ability to contribute to society, and introduce careers in emerging sectors that most youth are unaware of.

G.R.O.W.’s programs were developed to empower underserved and at-risk youth to take ownership of their education, careers, and futures. We help student identify their internal compass before starting the career preparation process. By doing so students have a clear understanding of WHERE they are headed and WHY.

Caseworkers have told us that our class has transformed students in all aspects of their lives and has deeply impacted their social-emotional development. One student commented that the class "saved her life." Another student said after taking our class he understood for the first time the importance of school and is now engaged in the classroom.

Get involved and help us touch more lives!

We need classroom volunteers to focus on reading, math, arts & crafts and supporting children's exploration!

Tiny Trees Preschool gives children a quality education and a joyful, nature rich childhood. Through the use of outdoor classrooms in Seattle city parks, Tiny Trees eliminates the cost of a brick and mortar facility, making preschool affordable and accessible to all families. An official partner of Seattle Parks and Recreation, Tiny Trees has 9 locations across King County.

Our mission is to bring accessible, high quality, and culturally responsive preschool to parks across Seattle and Puget Sound. To make that happen, we need you!

As a Classroom Volunteer you will:

+ Help with small group time by reading children’s books, math, helping with arts & crafts, or supporting future engineers at our blocks and building station.
+ Help with exploration time by asking children lots of questions of what they found, how it works, and why.
+ Support the health, safety, and welfare of all children. This includes helping children stay warm and dry in poor weather and managing risk in an outdoor setting.
+ Support our teachers in one of 13 upcoming outdoor classes based in a beautiful park to create an inviting and emotionally safe classroom. Classes are at:
Beer Sheva (South Seattle)
Big Finn Hill (Kirkland area)
Camp Long (2 classrooms, West Seattle)
Carkeek Park (3 classrooms, North Seattle)
Cougar Mountain Wildland Reserve (Renton area)
Five Mile Lake (Auburn area)
Jefferson Park (Beacon Hill)
Olympic Sculpture Park (Downtown Seattle)
Seahurst Park (Burien)

You Are:

+ Excited to get dirty and laugh a lot while being outside in all types of weather.
+ Love children, equity in education, and the environment.
+ Tolerant of uncertainty and change.
+ Able to commit to at least one month of volunteering at one site on a regular scheduled day and time.

Shift Opportunities:

Most of our classrooms need volunteers Monday through Friday either in the morning from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. or in the afternoon from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Please email corbin@tinytrees.org for specific site schedules and inquiries.

We are especially eager to engage volunteers with backgrounds similar to those of the young people we serve. Multi-lingual and people of color encouraged to apply.
