Since 1956, United Way of Southern Kentucky has been a charitable non-profit that has long served a major role in the community. We have been able to bring individuals and groups together to create opportunities that make a measurable difference in the quality of life for people where they live and work. We specifically are focused on the critical issues of Education, Income, Health, and Safety Net. Our Vision is “A Southern Kentucky where all residents are educated, healthy, and financially stable.”The United Way of Southern Kentucky will host our 6th Annual U.S. Bank Handbags for Hope event on June 6, 2019 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This event is a Silent and Live Auction of high end purses, to benefit the United Way’s Kindergarten Readiness Initiative. This Initiative is focused on getting children in our community prepared for kindergarten with the BIG BOLD GOAL to “Increase kindergarten readiness scores from 49.4% to 75% by the year 2020.”
Women from across Southern Kentucky will gather for an evening of fun and charity to raise money for children in our community to have the opportunity to gain the necessary skills to test as “ready” on kindergarten evaluations and assessments. United Way will use the funds raised from this event to fund programs across Southern Kentucky that are dedicated to getting children prepared to enter kindergarten, which means that each child enters school ready to engage in and benefit from early learning experiences that best promote the child’s success.United Way of Southern Kentucky is requesting volunteers from your business to use as part of our auction. The approximately four hundred women who attend this event will participate in a Live Auction of high end purses, where one lucky woman will have the opportunity to go home with her very own bag, with all the proceeds benefiting Kindergarten Readiness in Southern Kentucky.
Our goal for this event is to gather 400 ladies from all over Southern Kentucky, in order raise $92,500 for Early Childhood Education. We hope you will consider helping us enrich not only the futures of our children, but our community as a whole.
